Russell Cave National Monument Russell Cave National Monument is a pet-friendly historic site in Bridgeport, AL. Once home to prehistoric peoples, it functions today as an archaeological site and historic monument, containing the most complete record of prehistoric cultures in the southeastern United States. The surrounding grounds are home to a museum, bookstore, and nature trails. Prehistoric tools and weapons demonstrations are available, and a Native American Festival takes place annually at the park. Dogs are allowed in the park but must remain on a leash at all times, and owners must clean up after their pets. While visiting, they offer Fido the chance to join the Bark Ranger program. Walls of Jericho Alabama Trailhead The Walls of Jericho has two hiking trails that start from the northern parking area on HWY 79. The Walls of Jericho trail heads west from the parking area down to Hurricane Creek then follows Turkey Creek into the Walls of Jericho. At Clark Cemetery hikers are given the option of an upper and lower trail taking them above or into the amphitheater respectively. This trip is 6 miles round trip and is considered a difficult hike.
