Dog Friendly Hiking Trails Near Five Points, Athens, GA, US

Leashed dogs can join you at UGA Recreational Sports Complex, a pet-friendly public park in Athens, GA. There are many trails that you and Fido can explore on the outskirts of the sports fields, which do not permit dogs. Pet waste receptacles are also available.

Leashed dogs are welcome to join their humans at Ben Burton Park in Athens, GA. This beautiful, 32-acre wildlife preserve is a great place for a picnic or a quiet walk through the woods on the 1.4 mile pedestrian trail. The park also offers access to the Middle Oconee River where you can fish, kayak or canoe. Please be sure to clean up after your pet during your visit. Dogs must be on a leash no longer than 6 feet and under your control at all times per ACC Ordinance.

Thomas Farm Preserve is a pet-friendly recreation area in Watkinsville, GA, where two- and four-legged friends can explore together. This 100-acre former farm features a variety of visitor amenities, including paved walking trails, hiking paths, fishing ponds, open pastures and a designated dog park. Canines must be leashed unless within the dog park area.
