Dogs are welcome at Nasketucket Bay State Reservation in the tongue-twisting town of Mattapoisett, Massachusetts. You and Fido will discover 209 acres of wooded trails, open fields and rocky shoreline. Pets are allowed on the dog-friendly trails around the park, as long as they are on a leash under six feet and all mess is cleaned up after them.

The Phoenix Bike Trail is one of 1600 rail-trails supported by Rails-to-Trails Conservancy, a nonprofit organization that is working to create a nationwide network of trails from former rail lines and connecting corridors.
