Dog Friendly Hiking Trails in Prince Edward Island

The largest park within Western Prince Edward Island, in Malpeque, PE, Cabot Beach Provincial Park, is dog friendly! Cabot Beach features a large day-use area and supervised swimming on the scenic bay. Leashed dogs are allowed to explore the property and the beach, provided their owners clean up after them. Please note that dogs aren't allowed on the beach from April 1st to October 15th.

Green Gables Heritage Place in Cavendish, Prince Edward Island is pet friendly. This 19th century farm and literary landmark inspired Lucy Maud Montgomery, the author of Ann of Green Gables. Stoll with Fido around the idyllic farmstead and red woodland pathways. Pups are not permitted in the historic buildings, but are welcome to join you on a leash around the pretty trails that wind through the property.

Confederation Trail is a pet-friendly former railway line that runs from one tip of Prince Edward Island to the other. The 270-mile pathway starts in Tignish and ends up in Elmirais, crossing through Emerald, Royalty, Mt. Stewart, New Harmony, Cardigan and Wood Islands North along the way. Red Point Provincial Park is a pet-friendly recreation area in Elmira, PE. Leashed dogs are welcome to join you as you embrace the open green space, beautiful beaches, sandstone cliffs and stunning ocean views. This space is open from June through September.

Victoria Park Boardwalk is a pet-friendly 0.9-mile trail located at Victoria Park in Charlottetown, PE. Enjoy a walk along the shoreline with your leashed pup while you take in views of the Charlottetown Harbour together.

Souris Beach Gateway Park in Souris, PE, welcomes leashed dogs on its pet-friendly elevated boardwalk. This day-use park features a shallow beach where visitors can walk hundreds of feet from shore. Please note that foreign objects may be present in the sand, so exercise caution when visiting.

Prince Edward Island National Park is pet-friendly. Dogs are welcome in picnic areas, at campsites and on any trails. The park is made up of nice beaches surrounded by red cliffs and wind-sculpted dunes. Wander the seashore path with your pooch, hike the woodlands and enjoy the overlooks.
