Pooches on the Parkway

Pooches on the Parkway, Dog Walk and Fest is a fundraiser for the Blue Springs Off-Leash Dog Park. Come join us, Saturday, May 31st, 9:00 AM-3:00 PM, for a dog-gone good time. Bring your family and your pooches to Blue Springs South High School/Young Park on Adams Dairy Parkway in Blue Springs. A 1 mile or 5 K Walk With Your Dog starts at 9:30 AM. Pre-register for the walk at www.bluespringsgov.com/parks. The $21 walk fee includes a commemorative T-shirt and hospitality bag filled with goodies. Mayor Carson Ross will present the welcome and opening ceremony at 9:00 AM followed by the Blessing of the Dogs. KFKF’s Dale Carter is this year’s “Leader of the Pack” and with his dog Dexter will lead the walk at 9:30. You can shop with local vendors. Enjoy fun filled pet entertainment. There will be contests for you and your pooches including Best Costume, Best Licker, Best Tail Wagger and the always popular Stupid Pet Tricks and games like Bobbing for Biscuits, Sack Race with your Pooch and Musical Frisbees. Watch professional demonstrations by D.O.G. and Kansas City Disc Dogs. Enroll your pooches in Agility Clinics and Good Citizen Testing. Find yourself a new best friend from one of our many Rescue Groups. Watch the Parade of Dogs Needing Fur-Ever Homes. You’ll find children's activities, face painting, pet photos, and of course food. Help support our local animal shelters.
