MaxFund's 15th Annual Lucky Mutt Strut

MaxFund, a No-Kill Animal Shelter and Adoption Center, announces their 15th Annual Lucky Mutt Strut, a two-mile run/walk event in Washington Park on Sunday, June 26. MaxFund has nominated 10 special needs animals to be the ambassadors of the Lucky Mutt Strut, Who are YOU walking for?. Money raised will help MaxFund care for the ambassadors, as well as help find forever homes for all animals of MaxFund. Canines and humans alike will strut their stuff while enjoying a run or walk in Washington Park and the day’s festivities. The event begins for runners at 9 a.m. and walkers at 9:15 a.m. Check-In/Registration is from 7:30 to 8:45 a.m. “This year’s walk takes on a slightly different tone than in years past; we’re gearing up for an exciting competitive nature for 2011’s Who are YOU walking for?,” says MaxFund Development Director Tricia Cominsky. “We hope to raise awareness as well as capital for some specialized training for many of the ‘special needs’ kids that live, and have lived at MaxFund for years. We want to make these ten kids just as adoptable, social, and well-mannered as their buddies at MaxFund, but we need the public’s help in raising that money.” The event includes a picnic and beer garden sponsored by longtime MaxFund friend and supporter, Rock Bottom Brewery Denver. MaxFund animals available for adoption will be in attendance in the MaxFund adoption van, and a large vendor area with specialized treats, food and toys, pet portraits, puppy pools, goodie bags for two and four footed friends alike, music, and prizes for participants who raise the most in donations. Event sponsors include: Rock Bottom Brewery Denver, Pets N’ Stuff, Eukanuba and IAMS. Last year’s event raised $22,000 for MaxFund. Organizers are hoping to raise upwards of $75,000 this year.
