Festival of the Senses Dog Parade

Tell Fido to grab his leash and get in the car for he too is invited to participate in the sixth annual Festival of the Senses. For the first time ever, Clinton Township is inviting its four-legged guests to join in the festivities and help kick-off the two-day event with a Dog Parade on the grounds of the Civic Center. The parade will take place at 9 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, and include prizes for the participating pooches in three categories: Owner Look Alike, Best Costume and Best Behaved Dog during the Walk. Gift baskets will be awarded the winners in three weight categories for a total of nine prizes. The festival is currently pre-registering dogs to participate in the parade and the first 150 canines to be entered will receive a doggie goodie bag complete with a Festival of the Senses kerchief, dog treats and other food samples. It is $5 per dog and proceeds benefit EARL (Every Animal Rescue League) and the Veterinary Technician Kitten Raising Program. Owners can pre-register their dogs by downloading the registration form from the Festival of the Senses website and mailing it along with $5 to: Charter Township of Clinton, Trustees Office, 40700 Romeo Plank Road, Clinton Township, MI 48038. Day-of registration will be available, but festival organizers recommend pre-registering to qualify for the special pet registration kits. The Dog Parade is hosted by the Macomb Community College Veterinary Technician Program and Parkway Small Animal and Exotic Hospital. It will be lead by Rosco the Clown. Schedule of Events: 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Check-In, Final Pet registration and staging by weight categories. 10:15 a.m. Parade begins 10:45 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. Winners announced at entertainment stage.
