Dog Events in Roaring Gap, NC

Dogs are welcome to come swim at the pool for its last day of the season! There will be separate time slots to choose from based on your pup's size upon registration. Proof of current rabies vaccination is required and there's a limit of two dogs per handler. Handlers must be at least 18 years of age. Drinking water will be provided for the pups. Please note that humans are not permitted in the pool.

This outdoor museum experience was created just for dogs and their humans! Held behind the Museum on Norfolk Avenue, the event will feature prints from the Museum’s permanent collection, playful photo ops, and vendors celebrating canine creativity and curiosity. With a mix of art, culture, and tail-wagging fun, it's a must-attend day for dog lovers.

Leashed dogs are welcome at this beloved gathering of antique and vintage enthusiasts, featuring hundreds of vendors offering everything from primitives and industrial salvage to classic advertising signs, vintage furniture, bottles, bicycles, auto parts, and more. Held in both spring and fall, the festival includes live music, train rides on the Handy Dandy Railroad, a live auction, food vendors, and a lively marketplace atmosphere that’s fun for the whole family.

This family-friendly fundraising event invites animal lovers of all ages to walk alongside their own dogs, friends, family, or fellow supporters while raising money to help homeless animals in need. Participants will collect pledges and donations to support the dogs and cats of Faithful Friends Animal Sanctuary. Funds raised will help provide veterinary care, food, shelter, spay and neuter services, enrichment, and lifelong care for animals awaiting adoption. Enjoy a morning filled with walking, community spirit, contests, team competitions, prizes, and opportunities to meet some of our adoptable animals.

This dog-friendly pup social features adoptable dogs from Kal's Pals Animal Rescue, pup cups, pet portraits and plenty of tail-wagging fun. Guests can meet adorable pups and enjoy a fun outing with their four-legged friends.

Enjoy a raffle with great prizes for both you and your furry friends, a silent auction featuring exciting adventures and local products, and try out the new obstacle course to test your teamwork with your pup. The event also includes a special Blessing of the Pups, meet-and-greet opportunities with adorable ABLAR cats and dogs, and the chance to secure more Adopt-A-Row plaques. Friendly pups welcome on a leash! Admission includes one glass of wine (21+), a food plate and dessert.

This dog-friendly class teaches hands-on canine acupressure techniques that participants can use to support their dogs’ wellness. The session includes an introduction to acupressure and Traditional Chinese Medicine, demonstrations of specific points and guided practice locating them on your own dog. No experience is necessary. Participants should bring a towel, yoga mat, dog bed or other comfortable ground covering for themselves and their pup. This class runs alongside the farmers market, so come early and check out everything they have to offer.

Leashed dogs are welcome at this annual event that features live music, German food from local food trucks, festival games like stein hoisting and a lederhosen and dirndl costume contest, and more! Dachshunds and Dachshund mixes are welcome to participate in the Annual Dachshund Races!

This annual Wiener Dog Derby takes place during Oktoberfest at Southern Appalachian Brewery. The number of heats will depend on how many dogs are registered. Costumes are encouraged! All breeds are welcome to attend Oktoberfest, but races are for Dachshunds or Dachshund mixes only.

Bring Fido for a splash-tastic day, where fun and furry friends meet for a doggie pool party, with proceeds benefiting a great cause. The first hour is reserved for dogs 25 lbs or less, followed by dogs of all sizes. Lunch, a tennis ball drop, and doggie ice cream will also be available for purchase.

Cheer on speedy Doxies as they compete in Adult, Mixed, Senior, and Puppy divisions, with all the action broadcast live on the video board. Enjoy classic ballpark concessions and explore a large vendor area filled with pet-friendly goods. For the safety of all participants, only Dachshunds and Dachshund mixes can take part in this event.

Bring Fido to this four-day music festival! You and your pup will enjoy Bluegrass, Americana, Folk, Roots, and Rock music throughout each day. Camping is encouraged and there will be food, drink, and hydration stations. Friendly dogs allowed; clean up after them and pack water and a bowl.

Bring Fido to kick off the season at this pick-your-own pumpkin patch! There will be delicious food and other amazing vendors.

This 5K event supports drug and alcohol treatment, allowing participants to walk or run with a dog. The theme of this year's event celebrates movies and theater, reflecting Maddie's passion for films, theater, and acting. The event will feature an out-and-back course on the Muddy Creek Greenway, along with activities like a raffle, awards presentation, snacks and a silent auction.

On a select Saturday each month, this dog-friendly art festival features dozens of juried artists and craftspeople showcasing handmade jewelry, pottery, fiber art, glass, photography, paintings and more along Park Avenue. The event also offers Paws in the Park, a designated area with chairs, water and treats where dogs can cool down and relax. The event takes place rain or shine.
