This beloved weekend celebration brings together Golden Retriever owners and pups for fun, beach time, and community spirit on both sand and surf. The event features informal gatherings like a Friday “Gold Rush” walk through nearby Rehoboth Beach, an unofficial beach romp, bonfires, and plenty of opportunities for dogs to play, swim and socialize. The relaxed festival atmosphere also supports the Morris Animal Foundation’s Golden Retriever Lifetime Study, one of the most comprehensive canine health research efforts in the U.S., and draws hundreds of Goldens and their families to celebrate together by the shore.

The 5K Run is a competitive race and there's a 3K run/walk option for dogs (K9 race) where dogs must be leashed. Participants will run or walk through Harborview Park and along parts of the Coast Guard Training Center Cape May.
