Notes: Daufuskie Island has no bridge, and it's necessary to take a ferry or water taxi to get here. We will provide contacts for you to book your ferry/water taxi, ground transportation from the dock to the rental and golf cart rental. We are here to help make this a smooth process!

Beautiful 5 BR/5 Bath Secret Beach Cottage (formerly known as Golden Oak Cottage)!
The Secret Beach Cottage looks directly onto the Atlantic Ocean and is a mere 90-second walk from the sandy and secluded Melrose Beach.
A bright and airy open floor plan greets you when you enter the cottage. The living room, kitchen and dining areas all flow together under high ceilings and are punctuated with coastal art and special touches. And the view!! Your first glimpse of the Atlantic Ocean will alone make your trip worthwhile! Attractive and durable outdoor furniture can be found on a screened porch that will beckon you all day long. The modern kitchen is fully equipped and perfect for family meals. The living room includes a 50" (check this) mounted flat screen TV with cable and smart TV features. (Cottage guests also benefit from a fiber optics high-speed internet system.) Gather together for your meals in the dining nook, be a little more casual as you perch on your kitchen counter bar stools, or...maybe best of all!....steal away to your oceanfront screened porch.
Each of the five bedrooms has unique decorating touches, and all guests will love their peaceful and beautiful nighttime surroundings. There are actually four master bedrooms, three each with a king bed and ensuite bathroom, fourth has 2 queens and ensuite bathroom, and the crown jewel is the "king master" which features a lovely reading area and a private screen porch...perfect for enjoying your morning coffee while watching the sun rise over the Atlantic Ocean. The 5th bedroom is very special! It does not have an ensuite bathroom, but there is a hallway/guest bathroom directly across from it. This bedroom has a queen bed, a desk for writing postcards or for virtual work/school, and is simply pretty as a picture!
The cottage includes a laundry room with a full size washer and dryer, an outside wooden walkway leading to a gas grill, and even an outdoor shower with sides...but open to the sky! (DO try taking a summer night shower with nothing between you and the stars!)
Oh…by the way!…we wouldn’t dream of keeping your canine family member from joining you on Daufuskie. Well-behaved dogs are welcome. (A pet fee will apply.)

Concerned about the logistics of coming to a bridge-less island? Don't be! This cottage is managed by Daufuskie Rental Group, the island's premiere vacation rental company. An on-island team will be available to help you sort through the boat options, ground transportation services, and golf cart arrangements. We are also available to help in any way while you're on the island. After all, we take our slogan to heart: "No Bridge? No Problem!"

1) Daufuskie Rental Group makes a good faith effort to describe island amenities, including restaurants and pools. However, please note that we are not responsible for the availability of amenities that we do not operate and that are beyond our control. We recommend you contact the companies directly for rates, days, and hours of operation.
2) Your rental agreement contract's cancellation policy states that we are not responsible for events that are beyond our control, such as hurricanes. We strongly encourage our guests to purchase travel insurance, and especially recommend "cancel for any reason" policies. (These generally have to be purchased shortly after your reservation is made.)
3) Please note that because the Melrose Resort is in transition, our Melrose guests may notice a certain level of deterioration in the resort-owned buildings but will also see that renovation efforts are now underway. Our vacation cottages are in well-maintained areas and continue to be very popular.
