The property and room were clean, attractive, and up to date. Lots of room to walk around outside including grass. Felt like an upscale La Quinta.

While we appreciate that La Quinta Carlsbad allowed our pets to stay with us, to get the "pet friendly" King room we desired, we had no choice but to take a 2nd floor room. That is not pet friendly. And pet friendly does not mean you get a free pass on a deep clean after each guest leaves. I cleaned human hair off the shower floor, and the showerhead fixture dripped loudly and constantly (room 217). I attempted to deaden the drip, drip, drip sound with the only 2 washcloths provided in the room. In addition, you couldn't close the bathroom door because it drug on the tile floor. Finally, I miss being greeted by front desk staff when I enter the building. All 3 hotels we stayed in this trip were Wyndham-owned, and all 3 had a vacant front desk with no welcome greeting. Thank you again for allowing pets.

Not great, but not bad. Breakfast was good and the lady there was working hard to keep it stocked and nice and clean. The room was a little gross. There were crumbs around the room and pieces of food by the night stand. The window wasn’t sealed, so every time the wind hit the window it made loud whistling sounds…which was ALL night long. No body wash in bathroom and comforter was wrinkled and twisted when we got there. Super weird.

This La Quinta Inn was a gem, for our family and dog. The grounds were spacious, plenty of area to walk our dog and the grass was sticker free. Our room was clean, in great condition, plenty of space for us and our dogs bed. The breakfast area was clean, food great and plenty of breakfast items to choose from. We had a couple of issues with the room, the staff took care of it quickly and the experience makes it a top destination for us in the future.

Which can be hard to find around these parts, so highly recommend just for that. But also, professional, helpful, friendly service. Rooms were nice, and ours wasn't carpeted (which I prefer). Highly recommend.

Let's stipulate that $460 is an obscene rate for a motel room, but that's what the market seems to demand in Carlsbad NM, because of its proximity to Carlsbad Caverns and an apparent lack of sufficient hotel rooms.
No matter what the price, when you check into a La Quinta you expect good service. We didn't get it. When I went down for breakfast at 6:30 a.m., there was no coffee in any of the four large thermos containers in the breakfast buffet line. I couldn't find anyone in the kitchen so I went to the front desk, where the guy blew me off and told me to go find the kitchen person myself. Then a woman showed up and said, "well, there is coffee up by the front door." As if that make it OK. I asked to speak to the manager. He came around and was pretty defensive. He said he wanted to "make it right" by offering me a free membership in the LaQuinta discount program and giving me some free points on it. Since I don't stay at LaQuinta very often, that was not a very appealing offer. He finally offered to give me a discount on the room rate.
What irked me that most is that at no point in the process did any of these three employees of the hotel actually apologize and say, "we're sorry we messed up and didn't have coffee available," or anything close to a real apology.
After we got in the car and headed down the road to the Caverns, my wife said that she had been awake since 4 a.m. because the guy in the room above us was stomping around, and there was very little or no sound insulation in the flooring.
They do accept dogs here, I should note.
We won't be staying here again.
