    Can’t wait to go back

We absolutely loved our cabin! Our dog was so relaxed hanging out on the front porch and by the campfire. Cabins were clean, quiet and well equipped. Lots of dog friendly activities nearby. This was one of the best trips we have ever had with our dog. We will definitely be returning!

    Great cabins near Starved Rock

We stayed here in June with our dog and had a very pleasant experience. The cabins are roomy, clean, snd have everything you could possibly need. It’s a peaceful setting only 10-15 mins from Starved Rock Park. Best part was being able to have our dog along with us!

    Perfect dog cabins

We have stayed here on 3 separate occasions, staying in both the zonta and mother in law cabins. Great location, with just a short drive to the local state parks. Each cabin has plenty of room for your dog to wander around, and in addition to the location feeling isolated, there is a good measure of privacy with all the room around each cabin. We like using the outdoor fire pit and indoor wood burning stove as much as possible. The office has all the supplies you need to make a fire if you didn’t remember to bring any (honor system, bring cash). When we have to leave our doggie in the cabin alone, we like to check out the Yellowstone dvd available in the office haha. Friendly and helpful staff, have even scrambled to help find my girlfriend find a blow dryer when she forgot hers at home. We like to cook when we come, and the kitchen is fully stocked with all the supplies you would need. It’s hard to describe the cabins themselves, other than peaceful and rustic without trying too hard. When I go I wish I could just stay a month longer, as I find myself dreading having to go back to the real world with WiFi and cell service. Would rate this 6 bones out of 5.

    We will definitely BE BACK

These cabins were exactly what we needed for our honeymoon.
The privacy is great. You are a good distance from the other cabins, but you never feel too isolated. The cabin has all the right amenities to be rustic without leaving you missing the conveniences of home. No internet or cable (except good wifi in the main building, but they rightly prefer people not loiter in the store just to web browse) and that is perfect. I was able to check my emails by a short walk over to the main building, but we were not tempted to spend our honeymoon watching Netflix.

The cabin was perfect too. Good air condtioning and heating. A small tv with a blu ray player so we could relax with a movie after a long hike. The kitchen has all the appliances you might need. The fire pit and picnic table out back let us roast marshmellows and feed a stray cat too.

The drive over to Starved Rock was short and a small town to wander and check out antique shops was right up the street. This is in the perfect location off the main road but close enough to easily get where you need to go. There's so much more I could say about how pleasant and nice this place is, but the short of it is that we loved our time here and the owner's are wonderful. They have the cutest little pup who greets you at the main cabin.

The open area and being off any main roads makes it the best place to stay if you want to let your dog out to run and play.

Serene setting just a few miles from Starved Rock

We’ve now stayed at Kishauwau Cabins on 2 separate occasions with our 2 huskies. First, during the winter, and the pot-bellied stove was amazing. Just recently, in the fall and we enjoyed the use of the outdoor fire pit.
We enjoy hiking, so the cabin was home base to us after days spent at Starved Rock and Matthiessen State Parks.
We’ve stayed in the Zonta and Winnebago Cabins. The bed is comfy, the kitchen is well equipped and the place is very clean!
The office has snacks, firewood available 24-7.
Word of warning, there is no wi-fi, so prepare to be off grid.
