    Charming..... Just beyond expectations!

I booked my room last minute. I didn't do proper research. I just booked it because it was available, very reasonably priced and appeared to this LA native, kinda by where I needed to be. Most importantly, it allowed my beloved pooch Carlos with me. I used to be that crazy cat lady, but now since adopting Carlos, I am decidedly THAT crazy dog lady. Unreasonable in where I take him. I once snuck him into work once in a bag! But I digress....

So, I was resigned to have a less than perfect experience with renting the "Snug & Cozy Queen Room w/Parking & BRFT! at Lisa Myshall's. It was an Airbnb property, and I had no idea what that was, I don't know how my search on Fido.com landed me in Airbnb land, but now that I've tried an Airbnb, I won't ever go back to going to more expensive hotels.

Because this was actually one of the bedroom room in Lisa's home, Airbnb makes you jump through a lot of understandable hoops. You had to take a picture of the front and back of your id. And you had to even take a picture of yourself. At first my id didn't look like my picture. They told me I needed to take another picture. I was hoping the picture looked different because now I actually weigh what I put on my driver's license? lol! No, it was just blurry.... AmEx was giving me a hassle too. They deny a large charge, and THEN ask if you tried to charge something.

Finally after a lot of cursing, my reservation went through.....

Lisa texted me once I booked that evening to say hello and verify when I would be arriving. The next day when it appeared that I was going to be WAY later, she was so sweet in saying come whenever I would like! I really was ready to pay for another hotel because I hated the idea of coming so late. However, she left the back door open, reassured me it was fine, and a flash light for me. I didn't need the flash light, but it was sweet she was so concerned.

The vintage home has a charming bed and breakfast vibe. There was so much detail.... My room had my name on it. There were little chocolates, bottled water there.... and a little water dish for Carlos too.

In my rush to leave, I forgot a lot of toiletries, but it didn't matter because Lisa had EVERYTHING there, sweetly displayed.

I would have given her a perfect review just for that, but what put things over the top was what she did to help me with Carlos the next day.

Of course, I didn't properly prepare for doggy day care. I unwisely thought I could just call a place that morning and waltz in. No, of course. I called 6 places, either there was no answer, or the three conscientious places had all sorts of temperament tests, whatever and couldn't do it that day even though I had proof Carlos had all his shots. ....

So then I thought, I would buy a kennel..... when I realized I didn't have time for that, I thought I would keep Carlos in the car for the 1 1/2 hour of meeting, skipping most of the conference because I'm such a bad doggy mom.

Instead as I rushed out hurriedly this morning, and quickly explained the situation, Lisa called a friend who offered to take Carlos to work with her! I thought that was way too much of an imposition - and I was just going to do the dog in car thing. Lisa worried that I may not be able to find underground parking, and it may be too hot. She said, to just leave Carlos in the room and not to worry. She would text me..... Okay that may work because I would only be gone for 2 hours max.

It turned out - OF COURSE - I couldn't get out within the 1 1/2 hour because I ran into my supervisor at the conference. She's so awesome, and asked if we could sit together at the lunch. Thus, I couldn't sneak out. (Former AG Holder was the keynote, so it actually was a good lunch). Lisa texted me twice to say she took Carlos out to doo his doggy business (spelling error intended).... and then again to say that Carlos was getting along famously with Julia, her big puppy.

When I got back, Carlos was laying next to Lisa downstairs in the living room.... It was so sweet. I am sure that Lisa had other things to do that day, but instead she stayed at home taking care of Carlos. She offered to watch him the next day when I went to my conference. So sweet, and way beyond the call of duty.

Later, after getting home from a locally owned pet shop she recommended that was fabulous, we had a bit of girl talk... Perhaps noticing the edge in my voice, she offered me a glass of wine. lol ....

I slept so well ..... better than I had in weeks. In the morning, she had a sweet, breakfast left out for me... croissants that were still warm from the oven, two flavors of yogurt, cereals, berries (black berries and blueberries) juices, and hand pressed coffee. Her attention to detail is remarkable.

I'm surprised she doesn't have many, many rave reviews on BringFido. On Airbnb, she has a million of them.

An experience like this - as if you were visiting your nice, caring sister (who loves dogs, and has good taste) - was amazing. I will definitely be back!
