    Blackwater Falls State Park Lodge

    Blackwater Falls State Park Lodge allows two pets of any size for an additional fee of $40 per pet, per week. Guests with pets must call (304) 259-5216 prior to booking to verify availability of a pet-friendly room or risk not being able to check in with a pet and/or incurring any associated cancellation penalties. Both dogs and cats are welcome. Quiet, well-behaved pets may be left in guest rooms unattended.

    Description

    Located on Blackwater Canyon’s south rim, Blackwater Falls State Park Lodge offers 54 comfortable rooms with sweeping views of the densely forested gorge below. Built in the 1950s, this lodge predates its sister lodge at Canaan Valley Resort State Park, about 20 minutes away, and has a smaller, quieter atmosphere. All lodge rooms have been extensively renovated, but the mid-century architecture conveys a sense of history and blends in with the natural surroundings. The view of the Blackwater Canyon from the back patio is almost as breathtaking as the park’s famous waterfalls.

      Warm welcome for the dogs

      This might be the most dog friendly place we've stayed. Our room was large, overlooking the canyon, on the 2nd floor but right by stairs to go out for peepee walks. Our dog enjoyed lying by the fire in the lounge while we played games, and he had fun meeting other guests. He had the best time on the hiking trails, very well kept & marked w/ interesting falls & rock formations along the way. Stunning pine forest w/moss, ferns & rhododendrons. He was not allowed in the pool area or restaurant - napped in his bed while we went to those spaces. Highly recommend for BringFido folks & doggies!

      Views!

      Had pretty views of the waterfall and a selfie swing photo op for you and your dogs! But not great for hiking we were disappointed because we thought we would be hiking around the falls. Unfortunately, it is all overlooks which was not what we were anticipating.

      Great for a stay with the fur babies

      A spur of the moment trip with the fur babies. They were very friendly and the facilities were very clean. We went to the purple fiddle for dinner which was delicious and pet friendly.
