Description
Overlooking the narrow straight between Faial and Pico (the canal), Hotel do Canal is on an oceanfront avenue in the historic area of the capital of Faial and approximately seven miles from Horta Airport. This location is also close to the Pico ferry departure point, yacht marina, and the famous Peter's Cafe Sport. Faial, one of Portugal's nine isles, has a history of American whaling ships and ocean-crossing sailors. The whalers are gone, but the influence of New England architecture can be found in the brightly painted shutters that adorn many of the whitewashed houses in Horta. Hotel amenities include the restaurant, cocktail lounge, exercise room, Jacuzzi, Turkish bath, sauna, and massage treatments. The hotel also offers room service, laundry facilities, safety deposit, babysitting, and 24-hour front desk service. All rooms feature satellite TV, minibars, hairdryers, and alarm clocks.
