Mooring Buoy 187
Hilton Head Island will undergo beach renourishment from September 2025 through May 2026 to help preserve the shoreline. During this time, small sections of beach (no more than 1,000 feet at a time) may be temporarily closed to pedestrian access as the project moves along. Plenty of beach will remain open and accessible for you to enjoy throughout your stay.
Does Mooring Buoy 187 look familiar? If so, you may have seen it featured on HGTV’s “Vacation Home for Free” TV show. Walls were knocked out, rooms reconfigured, and everything raised to the level of a dream vacation getaway when this beautiful vacation home in the Palmetto Dunes neighborhood was completely renovated. Mooring Buoy 187 is a sprawling ranch style home with a deck that backs up to a lagoon where you and your friends can kayak. If you have a kayak, be sure to bring it! This is a home that welcomes everyone, including your pets. The open design allows full accessibility for the mobility challenged and also makes it safe for any young ones in your group.
When you drive up, you’ll discover there’s plenty of parking in front of the beautifully landscaped Mooring Buoy 187. With a yard this nice, you might linger for a few moments before you dive into your vacation! This is a home designed for outdoor living and features a covered patio area with comfy chairs and Adirondacks. The real showstopper is the deck out back that is right on the lagoon. There’s a gas grill where you can prepare the fish you plan to catch off the Harbour Town pier or on a fishing charter. You even have an enclosed outdoor shower in case the kids need to wash off sand from their trip to the beach.
Mooring Buoy 187 is just as spectacular inside as it is out. An open floor plan with skylights, large windows, and wood floors gives the home a warm, inviting feel that draws people together for conversations, games, and fun. Sleek and modern, but exceptionally comfortable, furniture is a hallmark of this immaculate property. In addition to the main living room with its decorative fireplace, there’s a den containing a huge 60-inch flat-screen TV with cable. With Coco’s on the Beach and the restaurants of Shelter Cove Marina close by, you have many options for dining out. However, with the beautifully updated Mooring Buoy 187 kitchen at your disposal, you may prefer to make a trip to the nearby Kroger’s or Whole Foods Market and prepare your meals at home. Brand-new white cabinets, Bosh stainless-steel appliances, and sprawling black countertops make cooking in this kitchen pure delight. You have everything you need from cookware to serving ware and utensils on hand.
If you’re not dining outdoors on the patio (there's room for six!), you can gather your group around the dining room table. The ingenious design of Mooring Buoy 187 creates an actual dining room while also keeping the space open and accessible to the flow of the home design. Every meal you serve in this dining room will feel special. The table seats up to six. If additional places are needed, you can seat up to six additional guests at the breakfast bar.
There’s so much to do and see on Hilton Head Island that your days will be filled with fun. Within Palmetto Dunes there are three golf courses, an award-winning tennis facility, and a General Store. You’ll also want to visit Harbour Town to tour the lighthouse, book a dolphin-watching cruise, shop, and maybe rent a bike to explore the extensive trail system on the island.
When you’re ready to settle in for the night, you’ll love slipping into your king-size bed in the primary bedroom. If you can't fall asleep, there's a 60-inch flat-screen TV to catch up on your favorite shows before a restful snooze. The room has access to the deck where you can enjoy a late-night cocktail by the lagoon before drifting off to sleep to the gentle stirrings of the ceiling fan or enjoying the dancing flames of the remote-controlled fireplace. Your primary en-suite is just as impressive. With its dual vanities, each with a sink, and lots of counter space, you’ll be able to get ready for your day at your leisure.
The second and third bedrooms each include a comfortable king-size bed, ceiling fans, and sitting areas as well as their own en-suite bathrooms with walk-in showers for the ultimate guest experience.
