  Hallway very smelly. Room was not much better. Didn’t smell like animal, just a bad smell. Toilet rocked from side to side, refrigerator at coldest temperature but had spoiled food in morning. Stained carpet, trim broken around room or missing. Since I had to give one bone, I should say something positive. Water pressure in shower was great.

  Carpeting stained in multiple spots. Couch was well worn and stained. This place was not taken care of.

  La Quinta...nah, more like La Stinka

  When planning our trip to Sarasota, we set out to find a hotel that would accommodate our two small dogs at a reasonable price. The La Quinta seemed almost too good to be true. The price was inexpensive and unlike other hotels, this one doesn't charge an additional pet fee. La Quinta has a pretty good reputation for a 2-star hotel so we figured we would give it a shot and booked a king-size suite for 2 nights.

  Upon arrival, my husband checked in while I took the dogs for a walk at the “dog park” they advertise. This “park” is a small area in the back corner of the parking lot that is about 6' x 6'. There is a garbage can and baggies to pick up your pet's feces, however, no one chose to pick up after their pet. There was poop everywhere! There were some shady looking people in the parking lot and almost every car there was old and beat up.

  As we went up to our room (yes, I was surprised they have you bring your pets all the way through the hotel and into the elevator and up to the 3rd floor) I noticed the over-powering smell of bleach as soon as we walked in the door. The smell burned my nose. I thought, wow, okay maybe they are being overly cautious due to the Covid virus.

  Then stepping off the elevator onto the 3rd floor the smell changed to what I can only refer to as the same smell of a dog kennel. It was so strong. Then after walking into our room, the smell was that of the kennel mixed with cigarettes. It was putrid. Luckily, I brought along a can of Lysol and some Lysol wipes. I went to work cleaning everything.

  There was some type of red stains on the floor. Dust on the light fixtures were SO thick I don't think they've been cleaned in years. Our window in the room was partially opened. There were black hairs in the middle of the white bed. The bed was lumpy and uncomfortable. There was black mold on the wall of the shower and the tub bottom was filthy. There was no toilet paper holder in the restroom, but the broken off bracket was still on the wall and can easily cut your leg if you aren't careful. The drywall had a hole in it. The refrigerator had leaked water out onto the carpet. I don't expect perfection, but this was just awful.

  The walls are paper thin. We could hear the sexual activity going on throughout the night. We heard arguing and yelling in the hallway with slamming of doors. Apparently this place is known as a hooker hotel in this area. We had no idea this was in a “bad” part of town.

  We did not even stay the 2nd night. We had to get out of there. Do yourself a favor, stay somewhere else. You and your dog deserve better than this!

  Bad Hotel Experience

  Omg first off when we arrived the front desk lady was very nice and friendly. We got into the room it smelled like weed and cigarettes through the hallway. We arrived into our room surprisingly the room was clean, the floors weren't cleaned there was metal pieces from the scrubbers that was affiliated with people who smoke crack on the floor under the sofa was a syringe cap. We walked outside to walk our dogs theres junkies everywhere! Smoking, there were cars coming in and out of the hotel at night. picking people up and dropping them off. We walked back into the hotel there were people knocking on the hotel doors throughout the night. Doors slamming, people arguing out front and in the hallways. In The middle of the Night the Fire Alarm went off Probably due to people smoking in the rooms. We have dogs and they allowed them with no deposits which was nice. The staff was very friendly and they had a security officer and the Activity is still going on. I wouldn't recommend this hotel experience to anyone even if you have dog. I barely slept through the night.

  WE have stayed at many La Quintas and this was by far the worst. Old soap in the shower, mystery something on the side of the tub, a lightbulb needed to be replaced so it was just left in the desk for us to do. Three pillows half sized. Only one towel. A past guests old razor still on the bathroom floor. Noisy AC. I should have listened to the other bad review. Staff was friendly. That’s the only saving grace of this place.

  Don't stay here!

  Worst hotel we ever stayed at. VERY dirty, bathroom fixtures broken, sink was blocked. Homeless man in the parking lot asking people for money. Woman at the Chamber of Commerce told us the hotel is in a bad area, We checked out early.

  Convenient - Friendly Staff

  Very dog friendly as we saw many there. Location convenient to drive to downtown, causeway, Lido Beach. Room was worn, stained carpet, couch and spill not cleaned off dresser drawers. Bed and bath seemed clean though. Stayed 4 days and refused housekeeping so the dog wasn’t disturbed. Staff was friendly, breakfast was okay, housekeepers always seemed to be working so hard but I think it’s difficult to make something old/worn sparkling clean and welcoming to guests.

  We needed a place last minute and we could not have been happier with our stay. Very large clean rooms. Friendly staff and free breakfast.
