Notes from the host
Sundown Signature Site (5237)
Summary:
A beautiful refuge surrounded by ferns and between two creeks. One creek is particular suited for wading into on a hot summers day. The water is clean and cold. About 40 acres of old growth forest. There are well kept walking trails that leads into the forest where you will encounter massive eastern white pines and red oaks.
The tent is accessible by a car. You can drive right up to the camp. There is plenty of sun and/or shade. Sundown is minutes away from the Catskill state forest preserve. The famous Ver Noy Kill waterfall was once a logging site. It contains three pools. Sundown farm is close to many famous towns such as Stone Ridge, Pheonicia, Woodstock, New Paltz, Kerhonkson, Accord, Rosendale, and Ellenville. The pristine Ashokan Reservoir a major supplier of water to New York City is minutes away. Sundown is totally private and has exceptional beauty. It is clean and has little trace of human intervention except for the overnight site. Our newest addition is the pond. The water is refreshingly cool originating from an unnamed creek at Sundown. Scientifically speaking the colder the pond, the cleaner the pond. Welcome to Sundown!
The overnight site is situated in a patch of ferns between two creeks.
There are many well kept trails that cover the property. Bring your binoculars and observe the variety of birds. Bring a compass to practice trailblazing.
Search the creek for newts and crayfish. On land it should be easy to discover the red efts that meander around the forest floor. If you visit the farm pond you should find bullfrogs and fish. Of course a forest would not be a forest without the fawn and its mother not far away.
The days may be hot but the nights are cool for a nice restful sleep.
A charcoal grill is provided so bring some charcoal and lighter fluid. Special thanks to our last campers, Ricky Jaen's party for installing a clothesline with clothespins. Stocked with kitchen supplies. Pots, pans, dishes, utensils, BBQ grill, and two coolers. A bundle of firewood to start your campfire is on is on us. Please bring extra firewood. There is ample water on site. If you need more there is a free public artesian well available down the road. An outdoor shower is provided but why not go for a dip in the Red brook which is on the property 100 feet from your tent. A propane heater is provided if it gets cold at night. If you never saw a virgin forest this one is as close as it gets. There are trails that lead to quite massive Red oak and White pine trees. The nights are so quite you can hear the sounds of the babbling brook in the distance. Come up and enjoy some rest and relaxation.
Both Sundown and Cherrytown are premier roads for perfect cycling.

Guest Access:
This is an exclusive Tentrr Signature campsite. Tentrr partners with land owners to offer unique accommodations in beautiful outdoor spaces. Our campsites are off-the-grid which means they generally do not have access to electricity, wifi, or modern plumbing. Instead, they offer the chance to relax, unplug, and fully experience nature!
Your Tentrr campsite includes a 10'x12' (120 square feet) safari-style canvas tent on a raised wooden platform. Inside the tent you'll find one queen bed or a queen-size bunk bed (see photos for the exact setup). The tent is big enough for the bed plus one or two extra sleeping bags on the floor. Aside from the canvas tent, campers can also use the extra 5-person pop-up dome tent that’s provided. You'll also have a 6-ft picnic table, outdoor fire pit, 2 Tentrr Adirondack chairs, and a heating source to keep you warm and toasty at night.
Max Occupancy: This refers to the total number of campers allowed onsite with your reservation.
Toilets: Every campsite is equipped with a camp toilet (we call it the Tentrr Loo). This is a simple wooden box with a toilet seat and a bucket inside. To use, line the bucket with a CleanWaste Sani-Bag supplied at the camp prior to use. Afterwards, simply tie the bag up and place it in a trash bag. CleanWaste Sani-Bags use a NASA-developed gelling/deodorizing agent that helps prevent spills and keeps everyone safe and clean.
Showers: Every Signature campsite comes with a Coleman Sun Shower. The sun shower has a reservoir that holds up to 5 gallons of water, potentially enough for multiple showers. It's constructed of heat-locking material that warms the water when it's left in the sun, even on cool days.
