  Needs renovations

  We were traveling with our small dog, for the night of Sept. 15, 2022. When arriving at the hotel, we were assigned to Room 116. A quick inspection of the room revealed a line of mold/mildew across the ceiling, along with numerous blisters from what appeared to have been a water leak in the ceiling. It also appeared that no attempt had been made to repair the damage from this water leak. My wife is extremely allergic to mold/mildew, so this issue was addressed to the desk clerk and the on-duty manager.

  We were immediately relocated to Room 100, a suite. Fortunately there were no mold/mildew issues in this room, but the room itself was filthy. The carpet was way past due for a scrubbing and was torn in several places, some of the curtains were torn, bathroom baseboards were dirty, one wall in the kitchen area had something smeared on it that looked like grease and the HVAC units all had a gritty/silty substance on the vents. The HVAC units looked so bad that we did not turn them on. It looked to me like the entire hotel was way past due for renovations.

  This was my first stay at a Marriott since joining Bonvoy several years ago. It was very disappointing, to say the least. I have stayed at other Marriott properties over the years prior to joining Bonvoy and was always satisfied with the experience. Not this time. Considering our experience on this visit, I feel that we should be compensated in some manner by Marriott.

  Overnight stay

  Staying in a handicapped room. Found that curtains required a pin to close them. Room dusty and a little smelly. Noisy other full time residents in hotel. Moldy shower curtains. Would not stay there again. Towels stained. Definitely don't recommend.

  This hotel has a renovated lobby, which is nice, but the room was scuffed and stained, with a rusty fridge, human hair, and other shortcomings that would not be expected at a midrange motel.

  Very dog friendly environment

  Staff was amazing and thoughtful. We really liked the spacious rooms for the dogs and close to the exit.

  Nice, clean, friendly place!

  We arrived at this hotel late Friday afternoon after a six hour drive from the Austin area. The desk clerk, Lee, was most kind and helpful when I requested extra king sheets, for both beds. He was very complimentary of my sister's rescue dog, Emma. Couldn't say enough kind things about her, which of course made my sister feel very good! The 2 bedroom suite was nice and clean. Because of COVID, I did disinfect everything with wipes and Lysol spray, including the sheets. The 3 of us humans would definitely stay in this hotel again, if we ever have another road trip during COVID!

  Inexcusably Shabby

  Pet-friendly lodging is limited In Texarkana so Townplace Suites by Marriott is one of the few rated options. That may account for the sad condition of the place. Among other problems, the mixing valve in the shower was malfunctioning so the water temperature only ranged from uncomfortably hot to unbearably hot. The refrigerator was rusted. Several functions on the TV remote were absent or inoperable and there was no on-screen guide. The (paper) channel guide in the room was, in addition to being incomplete and incorrect, looked to have been left there through multiple occupancies rather than being replaced after each use. In normal times this would not be an issue but in the midst of a pandemic a paper document that will inevitably be handled by guests should be replaced after each occupancy. On a related note, multiple times we passed an employee loitering in the hallway who, instead of vacuuming the carpet as he should have been (he was equipped with a vacuum), was staring at his phone over the course of 20 minutes at a minimum. The mask he should have been wearing across his face was tucked under his chin. Again, this is during a pandemic with a statewide order in place for masks to be worn. From what we observed, vacuum guy was one of a number of the staff who seemed to regard mask wearing as optional. Speaking of carpets, the one in our room needed more than a quick hoovering. A deep steam clean seemed to be in order. Finally, the only luggage cart available upon our departure was on the verge of falling apart. Other than all of the preceding, everything was great.

  Outstanding Service!

  The staff at this location are exceptionally friendly and very good! The accommodations are very nice and clean. I would definitely stay at this location again.

  Dogs Welcome Here!

  We stayed one night at the TownePlace Suites with one large and one medium dog. Our check in employee was a dog lover and had treats for the dogs. Rooms were on the first floor. Clean and functional large room. Employees were all great. Large mowed open lot across from the hotel to walk the dogs as well. Great experience!

  Housekeeper Troubles

  The housekeeper knocked on our door at 8am. My husband asked her what time was checkout. She said 10am. She just wanted us to know she was there. Again at 8:30am she knocks again. My husband called to the front desk and asked what time was checkout and they said 12 noon. He told the clerk that the housekeeper was knocking on our door. The knocking stopped. At 11am when we checked out the front desk clerk profusely apologized. She said they have trouble with that housekeeper. She needs to go to obedience school! Other than that experience the hotel was great. Room was nice, nice location to restaurants, etc.

  The ladies at the front desk were exceptionally friendly. No problem taking our dogs to the hotel. Grounds was clean. Room was clean. Two doggy stations. Would recommend for people with dogs to stay here.

  Great Hotel

  Nice hotel with friendly staff and clean rooms. They put pets on the first floor so it’s easy to take them out. Both our dog and cat were very comfortable here (so were the humans)! The free hot breakfast was also a great touch

  Our Pets Were Guests Too

  We not only brought our dog with us but adopted rescue dog while we were in the area. Our rescue 6-month-old puppy has had a very rough start in life. He has lost an eye and was recovering from severe burn on his back.

  The staff were very thoughtful and helpful. They made over and petted both our dogs! Since our new puppy required being rinsed each day to help his wound heal the staff provided him with his own towel.

  Would definitely recommend staying here.

  Great staff

  We were relocating with all of our puppies last week and like any hotel there are always little issues that arise. The staff was great and handled them all perfectly. Especially Colyda Johnson. She stepped up even after her shift to make sure everything was taken care of before she left. Would highly recommend to stay here. Thanks to all and especially to mrs Johnson. Gracie Mae says hi!
