This photo was taken at Charisma Clothing Boutique in St. Michaels, MD. This magnetic boy left a lasting impression. Much like, an elderly woman that left a lasting impression on me. This photo may have nothing to do with her, but the unforgettable nature is the same. Let me share a story with you. In the midst of all of the traffic, good cheer and shopping, was this wonderful woman brimming with so much love, with childlike eyes full of wonder. She happened to be Christmas shopping with her lovely daughter.đ She captivated my attention as I realized she was battling dementia, as her daughter kept her in check and in close range at all times. Every sentiment about this woman was expressed in unconditional love. Her daughter made her way through checkout. She purchased a necklace for her mother that she had admired. Before they turned to leave her mom innocently blew us kisses and waved goodbye with both of her hands and expressed her love for all of us (like we were her family). We wished her a Merry Christmas and said goodbye. As conflicting emotions welled up inside, I thought, how sweetâŠwhat if we all could be so honest and giving of ourselves fullyâŠhow that impact would have a lasting impression on everyone we come into contact with. Can you imagine the ripple effect of peace and love? I used the term âbattlingâ as a verb to describe her condition loosely. But now, as I reflect on it, it was no longer a battleâŠshe was fully taken over with Godâs will. She was the metaphorical white flag. This woman had a clean slate in life. She had unlearned everything she had been conditioned to know. She was innocent like a child with a fresh perspective. Medical evidence proves that her condition is part of the brainâs deterioration and caused by aging. So my question is, does God give us grace and prepare us for his kingdom in Heaven? Does he wipe our fear of death from our anxiety ridden minds? My thought isâŠwhat if we collectively chose to love as this woman does, only we are fully conscious, we do it with intention and no agendaâŠnothing to gain in return? Can we express unconditional love to others while their judging minds are suspicious of our motives? Something to ponder on. Stay kind and Happy Holidays everyone!đ
