Beware this facility neglects dogs

This photo was taken at Highland Canine Dog Training, LLC in Harmony, NC. Our sweet dog, Archer, went through a 6 week training program in December at Highland Canine Training, LLC in Alabama. Since the day of his return, he has suffered non-stop and getting progressively worse.

Archer was healthy going in and it terrifies me that not a single person who was supposed to care for him and train him during that 6 week period noticed that he was sick. The company has been unprofessional and unresponsive until they got a bad review. I am devastated that Archer can’t breath and continues to suffer.

When we dropped Archer off we gave the Highland Canine trainer skin and coat vitamins, glucosamine, 6 weeks worth of canned dog food to be fed at night, and a bag of natural balance dry food to be feed in the morning. When we picked Archer up he was noticeably tired, but we just thought it was from a lot of excitement.

The next morning we noticed he had fleas and was sneezing. We took him to our vet to find out he had fleas, tape worms, 2 ear infections and bronchitis. We were prescribed the medicine to help Archer and I gave it as prescribed.

The next week I took him to Louisville to stay with my boyfriend, but Archer showed little improvement and at one point wouldn’t eat out of one side of his mouth so we took him to the emergency hospital. They gave us pain killers and told us they didn’t know for sure what it was and to take him to our vet when we get home.

Fast forward to when we got back in Tuscaloosa we switched vets hoping to get a more clear diagnosis. By this time Archer was still sneezing and he still had an ear infection in one of his ears. The sneezing was so bad he would have sneezing fits that last minutes at a time. His nose was starting to turn white on the inside and you could see a growth that was causing him trouble breathing.

Our new vet set up an appointment with Auburn Vet Hospital since they are the only vet in the state with the technology to diagnose Archer. They diagnosed him with the a fungal infection, and he is now on his second treatment. The first treatment was just administered in his nose and the second was more aggressive. They had to drill two holes into his head to treat the sinuses and do another treatment in the nose. The vet bills are now at 5,263 dollars.

I am taking Archer to Auburn once again tomorrow since he is still having trouble breathing. If you care about the treatment and life of your dog I would not let Highland Canine train them. This is carry on now 2 months, and we just want him better. He just turned a year old and has experienced more sickness than most dogs do in a lifetime.
