The Original Crab Shack

The Original Crab Shack's motto is "Where The Elite Eat In Their Bare Feet!" in Tybee Island, GA. You and your pooch are welcome to sit on the spacious, dog-friendly deck overlooking the water, but not in the screened-in dining area. If you like seafood (which should be a prerequisite to coming here), order baby clams, oysters, snow crab, or Louisiana crawfish; if you like a little bit of everything, try the Captain's Sampler Platter or a Low Country Boil with shrimp, potatoes, corn, and sausage. Please note that resident cats have free range to roam around the outdoor seating areas. Visit Website

Great on water location for your pup

Great place to dock up with your boat. Very pet friendly. The deviled crab is worth the trip.

    Great Place!

We stopped in for lunch as we were a bit early for our Airbnb. Food was wonderful...ordered the alaskan king crab legs and Captains platter. Django was welcomed with lots of head scratches and ooooohhhs and aaaahhhhs. We will definitely be stopping again before we leave town.

    Good…ish

we loved they let us inside on a freezing cold day. we liked the very low country vibe. it would be nice to sit out side in the spring or fall Im sure. service was timely.
I did not care for 1/2 of my shrimp not being properly cleaned so gross to me. potatoes were not cooked though. everything else pretty good not great.
not hot water in bathroom or deck faucets.

    The best service

Our waitress was quick to seat us and get our German Shepard water. They let us move when we realized the outside heaters were too warm in the sun. Very accommodating. Very friendly towards Britta, our pet. Service was friendly, prompt and exceptional! The food was good. The cats roaming never approached us or any other diners, staying on the outer edges of the restaurant.

    2 woofs

Food was good, wish I would have got the sampler, wasn’t a big fan of the Boil. Brisket was fabulous and the clam chowder very tasty! Very dog friendly, although my little mini golden doodle chased the cats away and the raccoon too, plus a few birds, her high pitched bark will do that to some people too!

    Carlie favorite place

This place was so good. The seafood platters were for Sharing and HUGE. The brisket was delicious. Great atmosphere and our dog loved the cats.

    Happy Dogs & humans

We were sat on the dock in a great spot to tuck our lab mix out of the way of traffic in a busy place. Ordered a kids plain hotdog sub potato chips for the corn to keep them extra chill. Humans enjoyed the shrimp & beers.

Great food And Accommodating For Dogs

waitress was very nice and friendly, took time to talk to Clancy. Food was great, view was great, it was chilly and they had heaters which helped. If you Dog doesn’t like cats this isn’t the place for them! Clancy could careless about the cats and since he never left my lap I don’t think they even knew he was there.
    highly recommend!

    Amazing!

Everyone was so accommodating, and we frequently had people come and ask to pet Clover (which she loved). Clover was even able to go up and watch the alligators swim around. She is still working on her public manners, so she still barks when she’s nervous, but we were left to handle it ourselves, and that made the environment feel safe. There are cats, but they will keep their distance if they need to. Do not bring cat or dog aggressive dogs here.

    Great Service And Pet Friendly

Our server Alex was great. He brought our Baxter a bowl of sausage and was a great server. If your dog has a problem with cats this may not be the place for you. They have several resident cats that’s are the house pets.

    Pitbull friendly

Our waiter brought out a bowl of water for our pitbull. Another waitress came over and sat on the floor petting and loving on him. There was a loose cat on the deck so that’s something to be aware of. The food came out quick and tasted great. We went in February so it was a little cold on the deck but still enjoyable.

    Warm and Friendly

Had a very good meal. They were very accommodating with Nikita and everyone fawned over our little princess, even the elf (this was at around the Christmas holiday). All were great and even the cats gave Nikita her own area.

    Addies Big Adventure

Good food. Had to ask waitress for a bowl of water for our pup. Cats scared our dog more than anything as they would hiss. If you are earthy this place might not be for you as everything is waste and they use styrofoam and disposable utensils for everything.

    Very dog friendly

Waitress immediatel brought our Pekingese water and paid him the attention he believes he deserves. Food was great as was the service. Had lovely outdoor table overlooking water. Cats did not present any problem.

    Beware of Cats

The food was good and our dog was welcome but there were cats everywhere! Our dog is not a cat lover so it made for a tense meal.

    The Crab Shack

I must say the food was great and we had great service, but the staff didn't seem very happy about us having our dog. The waitress never even acknowledged the dog or brought it any water. I will eat here again I just think I will leave my dog at home .

    very friendly! m

No worriea about having oyr large Alaskan malamute with us. Staff were very friendly and brought her water. She did lunge for their cat but they didnt seem to mind :-) at the emd of our meal (decent food, but all comes on polystyrene plates, bowls and cups which is a bit odd) she started to get a bit vocal and woo wooed a bit, no one batted an eyelid. Really nice view. There are also gators to see here in captivity. Great place for a family or couple or group

    Loved it

We have eaten here a couple of times. The first time, on our honeymoon. Love the food. Last time we were there, the dolphins were playing out in the water. We didn't have our dog either time, but wouldn't mind taking her there...She would love the kitty cats (really, she thinks she is a cat)
