Mackinaw Pastie & Cookie Co. on W Jamet Street in Mackinaw City has two pet-friendly tables outside. When they first bought the business in 1974, Bill and Wanda Grew started using her grandmother's recipes for Cornish Pasties, as she was born in Cornwall, England. Originally eaten by miners, the pastry filled with savory items was an easily transportable lunch. The traditional beef pastie at Mackinaw Pastie & Cookie Co. is filled with custom cuts of beef, potatoes, onions, lightly seasoned with rutabaga and baked in a crust. If you love this traditional dish, you can take a few frozen pasties home with you. Please note that table service isn't available, so your dog will need to wait outside when you go in to order.
