    The Shack

    The Shack, located in Virginia Beach, VA, welcomes dogs during the week only - Monday through Thursday. Small dogs (up to 25 lbs) can join you at outdoor tables on weekdays. Enjoy family-friendly outdoor games and lose yourself in this island oasis, one block from the beach. They have their own restaurant menu, as well as fare from their food bus and taco cart. Please note pets are not permitted on the patio during weekends. Call ahead to ensure the availability of dog-friendly patio seating before making the trip with Fido. Visit Website

      Incompetent Sheriff Deputy

      As a disabled vet, my service dog goes everywhere. I went to the shack for a drink with a friend and was stopped and told they didn't allow dogs. Mind you, this was being told to me as they were reading my dogs vest "I'm working, please do not pet me." They have sheriff's deputies who run their security I guess, but it was the hostess who mentioned it to him to stop me. I told him he is not a pet and is my service animal and he STILL tried explaining to me that dogs were not welcome. At this point, I just walked into the guest area to my friends and they finally told me, "you're okay." The Shack needs to train their employees better on proper ADA laws and maybe hirer security that actually know what they're doing.

      Day and weight restrictions

      We went here on a Sunday and they said they don't allow dogs on weekends, and on week days there is a weight limit of 25lbs. Our dog is 70 lbs so it wouldn't have worked regardless.
