Entry Requirements
Complete the following entry requirements to travel to Cyprus with your pet:
- Pets must be identifiable via microchip implanted before the pet receives their rabies vaccination. If your pet already has been vaccinated before implantation, the vaccination becomes invalid and will need to be administered again.
- Pets must be at least 105 days old and must be vaccinated against rabies. Wait 21 days after the vaccination is given to travel to Cyprus.
- If you are traveling from the U.S., obtain a health certificate from a USDA-authorized veterinarian with proof of the rabies vaccination, a written statement of the owner that the animals are not to be sold and a document stating that the animal arrived, either directly or through Cyprus from a third country listed in the health certificate. The health certificate is valid for 10 days from the date of its issue by the official veterinarian.
- Travelers from EU countries can obtain an EU Pet Passport instead.
- The maximum number of companion animals (dogs, cats and/or ferrets) that may accompany the owner or authorized person must not exceed five unless the pets are traveling for the purpose of participating in competitions or sporting events, the owner provides written evidence of registration for the event, and the pets are over 6 months old.
- The Republic of Cyprus does not allow the following breeds of dogs: Pit Bull Terrier or American Pit Bull, Japanese Tosa or Tosa Inu, Dogo Argentino or Argentinian Mastiff, and Fila Brasileiro or Brazilian Mastiff.
- Upon arrival, each animal and its accompanying documents are inspected by an authorized Veterinary Officer or Customs Officer. Payment of inspection fees is required only in the case of entry of an animal from a third country, as well as in the case of non-fulfillment of the provisions of the applicable regulations.
