Entry Requirements

Complete the following entry requirements to travel to Denmark with your pet:
  • Pets must have a valid microchip and be vaccinated against rabies at least 21 days prior to travel to Denmark. If your pet is 12 weeks or older, it must have its first rabies vaccination before traveling to the EU. Your veterinarian must scan your pet's microchip before giving its rabies vaccination.
  • Travelers with pets must obtain a health certificate completed by an authorized veterinarian within 10 days of your arrival date.
  • Travelers from EU countries can use a valid EU Pet Passport instead.
  • The dog must not be intended for sale and ownership of the dog must not be transferred to another person.
  • The maximum number of pets (dogs, cats, ferrets) that may accompany the owner or an authorized person must not exceed five. This maximum may be exceeded if the animals are traveling for the purpose of participating in competitions or sporting events, the owner provides written evidence of registration for the event, and the pets are over 6 months old.
  • For trips longer than four weeks, dogs must be registered in the Danish Dog Register upon arrival.
  • The following breeds are not allowed to travel to Denmark: Pit Bull Terrier, Tosa Inu, American Staffordshire Terrier, Fila Brasileiro, Dogo Argentino, American Bulldog, Boerboel, Kangal, Central Asian Shepherd Dog (ovtcharka), Caucasian Shepherd Dog (ovtcharka), South Russian Shepherd Dog (ovtcharka), Tornjak and Sarplaninac. Cross-breeds of any of the breeds mentioned above or any wild dog species are also not allowed in Denmark, no exceptions.

Quarantine Information

Pets being transported into Denmark are not required to be quarantined if they meet all the necessary requirements listed above.
