Hungary

• Pets must be identifiable by microchip with ISO Standard 11784 or Annex A to ISO Standard 11785.
• Travelers with pets must also obtain an authorized veterinary certificate with proof of anti-rabies vaccination, or revaccination if applicable.
• Certain at-risk countries of origin also require evidence of a rabies antibody blood test at least 30 days after vaccination and three months before being moved.
• Dogs must receive treatment against Echinococcus multilocularis by a veterinarian within 24 to 120 hours before entry into Hungary. This treatment must be documented in the health certificate or EU Pet Passport.
• Animals coming from an EU member state must be accompanied by an EU Pet Passport.
• The maximum number of companion animals (dogs, cats and/or ferrets) that may accompany the owner or authorized person must not exceed five unless the pets are traveling for the purpose of participating in competitions or sporting events, the owner provides written evidence of registration for the event, and the pets are over 6 months old.
