• Travelers from the U.S. or Canada no longer need to bring a health certificate for dogs and cats. Upon arrival to Mexico, travelers must instead visit the Mexican Animal and Plant Health Inspection Office (OISA) to contact the official personnel working with SENASICA, who will check that the animal does not have infectious disease, is free of ectoparasites and does not have fresh wounds.
• Travelers from other countries must bring duplicate copies of a health certificate issued by a licensed veterinarian within 15 days of travel. The health certificate must include the name and address of the owner, physical description of the pet, and it must state that the animal is free of any contagious disease.
• Visiting pets must also have vaccinations for rabies, distemper, be dewormed within the previous six months and be free of ectoparasites (dates of vaccination must appear on the health certificate).
