Romania

• Pets traveling to the EU from elsewhere must be identifiable via microchip, up-to-date on rabies vaccinations that have been administered at least 21 days before travel, and accompanied by a health certificate issued by a licensed veterinarian in the country of origin. If traveling from the U.S., health certificates must be endorsed by a USDA Endorsement Office.
• Pets traveling within the EU must be accompanied by an up-to-date EU Pet Passport.
• For processing reasons, people traveling by air with a pet should enter Romania at Bucharest Henri Coanda International Airport or Cluj Avram Iancu International Airport.
• The maximum number of companion animals (dogs, cats and/or ferrets) that may accompany the owner or authorized person must not exceed five unless the pets are traveling for the purpose of participating in competitions or sporting events, the owner provides written evidence of registration for the event, and the pets are over 6 months old.
