Entry Requirements

Complete the following entry requirements to travel to United Arab Emirates with your pet:
  • UAE is a high risk country for rabies. Before receiving an import permit to return to the U.S., travelers must obtain 2 pictures of their pet's front teeth, a CDC Rabies Vaccination and Microchip Record, a serologic titer from an approved laboratory and a passport photo of the owner. Once these items are obtained, apply for a permit for your pet to return to the U.S. at this link. For further guidance on returning to the U.S. with your pet from a high risk country, contact the CDC directly at cdcanimalimports@cdc.gov
  • Visitors traveling with pets must obtain an import certificate within 30 days of travel from the website link on this page. The fee for this service starts at 200 AED.
  • Animals must be at least 12 weeks old to travel, unless they are from a country with a high risk for rabies, in which case they must be 15 weeks old.
  • Pets will also need to be accompanied by a pet passport or a valid health certificate issued by a licensed veterinarian in the country of origin that includes proof of microchip, a full description of the pet and a list of up to date vaccinations against rabies, Canine Distemper Virus (CDV), Canine Parvo Virus, Canine Hepatitis and Leptospirosis. Cats must be vaccinated against rabies, Feline Pan Leukcopenia, Feline Rhinotracheitis and Feline Calicivirus.
  • People traveling from countries with a high-risk for rabies also require a laboratory test certificate with an Antibody Titration Test for rabies.
  • The following breeds are not allowed to enter UAE: Staffordshire Bull Terrier, American Pit Bull Terrier, American Staffordshire Terrier , American Bully, Brazilian Mastiff (Fila Brasiliero), Argentinian Mastiff (Dogo Argentino), Tibetan Mastiff, Neapolitan Mastiff, French Mastiff (Dogue de Bordeaux), Boerboel, Bullmastiff, Cane Corso (Italian Mastiff), Bully Kutta (Alangu Mastiff, Indian Mastiff), Perro De Presa Canario (Canary Mastiff), Japaneese tosa and Presa Canario.

Quarantine Information

Pets traveling to United Arab Emirates do not need to be quarantined if they meet all the necessary requirements listed above.
