I have a spoiled English Coonhound

This very basic dog park has potential but needs some TLC. It’s a good size for pups to run & play. It’s very grassy. However, it needs some work. Gate latches are broken. Grass was overgrown. There is no water source so bring your own. There’s no shaded areas. Also there is no lighting if you come after dark. There were plenty of poop bags available. There were separate large and small dog areas. It serves its purpose if you’re in a pinch and just need to let the pups run but I don’t see it as a place of socialization.

Dogs are not allowed in the grassy areas on the inside of the arches. We drove around to several other small park areas and there were signs saying no dogs allowed. So essentially dogs were not allowed on grass so idk where people are supposed to let the dogs out.

Dogs are allowed along roads and some paved trails (pretty standard for most national parks). We didn’t see any goats but did see some bears. Be aware that there are grizzlies and other wildlife in the area so keep fur babies on a leash & bring bear spray for longer hikes. I wasn’t able to find a BARK ranger tag in the park store but otherwise everything was as we expected and we enjoyed our trip. As with all national parks, check out the BARK ranger rules and dog friendly areas online before heading out. Bring plenty of water and dog bags.

Dogs are allowed along roads and some paved trails (pretty standard for most national parks). Some of the cabins within the park are dog friendly and it was actually a pretty nice place to stay. Dogs are allowed to walk around the campground areas. Dogs are also allowed at Old Faithful although there is sign preventing them from getting too close the geyser. Be extra careful that the pups don’t get loose near any geyser areas as the ground is unstable (can literally fall through in some areas) and the water is literally boiling and full of bacteria & acid (aka, super unsafe to stray away from designated trails in these areas). Best to travel with someone and take turns seeing the geysers so one person can sit with pups while the other goes out to look at geysers and then switch off. If you want to do longer hikes best to board pups for a day in one of the nearby towns. Be aware there are grizzlies and other wildlife in the area so keep pups safe & on leash. There are plenty of good smells to lead our scent hound fur friends astray so pay attention and keep pups safe. I wasn’t able to find a BARK ranger tag in the park store but otherwise everything was as we expected and we enjoyed our trip. Yellowstone is huge, we spent several days there and still couldn’t see it all. As with all national parks, check out the BARK ranger rules and dog friendly areas online before heading out. Bring plenty of water and dog bags.

If you’re looking for longer hiking trails check out the nearby national forest. May have given more bones if we went at a different time. We drove out to the Bonneville Flats Speedway. It was not pristine like the photos online. This may have been bc it was muddy when we went and there had been a lot of people driving on the flats recently. So def did not get that pure white w/ ridges photo but if we’re ever in the area again we would be willing to give it another shot. I was told that the rest area (Salt Flats Rest Area on I-80 west) may be a better option for photos since there’s not as much driving there. The reflections in the water were beautiful and it was still a cool experience. Some tips if you go, pack either dog booties or bring something to wash the salt off their paws. Bring towels, there is mud. There are no facilities out there so bring plenty of water, dog bags, and be prepared to pack everything out with you. There is a gas station near the flats speedway but it was t the cleanest. If the flats are wet you can’t drive on them (car will get stuck in mud) but you can still walk out on them. After a while the water stings any open cuts kinda like ocean water so bring water & wipes to clean up with. Happy exploring fur friends!

Perfect place to get out with your pup on days when it’s too hot to be outside. The pups loved sniffing around the museum. Staff were super friendly with the pups. They even had a cute small gift shop.

Absolutely loved staying at Best Friends Roadhouse and Mercantile! The pups have road-tripped with us literally from coast to coast and this was by far the best dog friendly place to stay. Everything was included. The had a dog park with splash pad & stick library, firepit, dog spa, pull out dog beds, treats at check in, a gift shop full of merch for both humans and fur babies, free vegan breakfast for humans. Dog spa had 2 dog wash & grooming stations, shampoo & everything needed was there. Free onsite laundry available for the humans. Everything was extremely clean & well maintained. Rooms were very spacious with nice updated bathrooms. Best of all, it all went towards a good cause to support the Best Friends Animal Sanctuary. Hands down, best dog friendly hotel ever. Would totally stay again!

When we showed up we were told only service dogs were allowed. Our dogs were not allowed on the premises, not even the gardens.

We had a great time with our hound pups! They loved all the smells! Note, last dog admission is 11:00am but once inside you can stay as long as you like. Also, the garden no longer allows re-admission on the same day so be prepared for that. We brought dog water bottles & there were plenty of places to refill. Overall, we really enjoyed it!

Let’s be honest, this is an alien themed tourist trap, but still entertaining. Admission was super cheap. Museum was fairly small but loved getting pics of our hound pack with the aliens. Staff were super dog friendly. Nearing the theater room you could hear loud thunder-like noise which could scare some pups but we tried to avoid that area. Overall a good experience. FYI, the Roswell Visitor Center is also dog friendly.

Again, another alien themed tourist trap but still entertaining and super cheap. This is a black light alien themed haunted house. They did great with the decorations. Our coonhound loved it and was really amused by the displays. Our beagle got halfway through and got scared by some of the noises. Overall, we had fun and it was worth the price.

Pups had an absolute blast at White Sands! Dogs are allowed everywhere except the visitor center (which is huge for a national park). Gift shop had BarkRanger merch. We did several of the shorter hikes which the dogs enjoyed. Later in the day we put them on long recall leashes and let them run over the dunes. They loved running, digging in the sand, and rolling around. Had an exhausted happy pack of pups by the end of the day.

Pups loved it! Just the right size for a few games of chase & fetch. Only thing was the dog water fountain was pretty rusty, might want to bring own water & bowl.

The fenced area is a great dog park, but insanely difficult to find. The address to enter into Google maps is 969 36th Ave. San Francisco, CA 94122. This will bring you right to the fenced area parking lot. Would recommend bringing own waste bags but there are doggie water fountains available. There are 2 areas, small & large dog areas. The park is spacious and clean.

Long line but got some great photos!

My pups loved visiting the aquarium in Key West! Who knew there were dog friendly aquariums? The pups were so curious about all the fish, it was so cute watching them explore the aquarium. Staff was very friendly. It was a little on the smaller side, but still had great displays & presentations. Be careful in the outdoor sections on hot days as surfaces can get too hot for paws. We absolutely loved it!

This is a nice area to walk your dog in NOLA. There are large grassy areas with shade. There is also a walkway along the Mississippi River with nice views of the boats coming & going. Dogs must be leashed.

Blue Heaven is super dog friendly. We had seating in the courtyard area and server brought the pups a bowel of water. The wild chickens were running around the table but our dogs tolerated them well. The food is the absolute best! We had the grouper & jerk chicken which was to die for. Desserts were pretty amazing too. Highly recommend when visiting Key West!

They welcomed the pups with bowls of ice water. Staff were very friendly. We had the shrimp, it was great! We sat just inside the doors with my 2 pups, a whippet & a coonhound.

This is a great place to hike with dogs just be sure to bring plenty of water and your own poop bags. The river is full of gators (as is any body of freshwater in Fl) so keep the pups away from the water!
The beach is very clean. it wasn’t crowded at all when we went. There are trash cans on the beach but you need to bring your own dog waste bags. We had a very relaxing visit.

a beautiful place to walk the dog!

we were visiting from out of town. we had fun! the place was super clean. the staff very friendly & helpful! people kept on eye on their dogs.

Dinosaur World was great! The trails were really nice and mostly shaded. They do have at least one dog watering station but it’s more convenient to carry your own pups water with you. Even the gift shop was dog friendly and the pups picked out their own plush dinosaur toys. The gift shop was big and the prices on souvenirs was reasonable. They didn’t sell food or drinks that I saw so bring your own. Staff was really friendly, liked the pups, and were very helpful. They do strictly enforce mask wearing while indoors and encourage it if not socially distancing when outdoors. Since not all the hands on exhibits are open due to Covid they’ve dramatically reduced their ticket prices. The gem mining part is currently open with social distancing measures in place. The one minor issue I didn’t like was that I didn’t see much in the way of grassy areas for pups to take a little pit stop and the edges of the trail are roped off to encourage visitors to stay on the trail. I understand they don’t want visitors messing up the Dino sculptures but it would have been great to have a little bit of trail edge or a few grassy areas that aren’t roped off for the pups to take a break. We didn’t make it the whole way because it got too hot (typical Florida heat) so I would suggest visiting in the cooler months and bringing a good amount of water for the puppers. Overall, we had a great time and will be back when it gets cooler!

Review for the dog park: The park itself was great. The other OWNERS CLEARLY NEED TO LEARN DOG PARK ETIQUETTE. Things were great until we were in the exit pen getting ready to leave. I was rinsing my dogs off when a another owner brought his leashed dog into the exit pen with my dogs. He then proceeded to let one of my dogs loose when he went to exit. This could have resulted in my dog getting hit by a car or running off (she’s a fearful recently rescued whippet). I then had to instruct him not to chase my dog bc she’s fearful of strangers. DOG PARK ETIQUETTE: Do NOT let your dog in the exit pen with other dogs. This can lead to a dog fight or a dog escaping. Do NOT leash your dog before entering the exit pen as this can lead to a dog fight. Do NOT chase a frightened dog. Rant over. The park itself is really nice. It’s shaded, has watering stations, is super clean (people clearly do pick up here), and has a dog rinsing station. It’s mostly mulched with some grassy areas. There were a few mud puddles but we came right after a heavy rain.

I was really hoping the poor reviews were old. I'm here for Oct 2018 for an extended stay for work, not even for vacation and really need a place my dog can get some good exercise. So this "dog park" doesn't even look safe for dogs. The fencing is falling down in some areas, there are holes started by other dogs under the fence, plastic trash all over the ground. The surface is mulch with some grassy patches. The weeds have grown up along the fence. The water source is a broken water hose. I'm extremely disappointed.
About the beach situation, it is a $290 fine on first offense for a dog on the beach. I think it would be in the city's interest to either improve (dramatically) the dog park or allow dogs on the beach, at least for certain hours or a specified stretch of the beach. If dog waste is the issue they could require dogs to have some type of permit to be on the beach. I would willingly pay a fee to allow my dog on the beach. The fee money could go to a dog poop DNA registry (ex. PooPrints) and then anyone who did not clean up on the beach could be fined whether or not they were caught in the act.
I have heard there are dog friendly beaches on Hilton Head Island less than an hour north of here so we'll be checking that out.
