Kentucky Horse Park

The Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington is the state's largest state-owned tourist attraction. The park is dedicated to sharing Kentucky’s love of horses with the world, and hosts nearly one million visitors and 19,000 competition horses in 200 special events and horse shows annually. It's a working horse farm, educational theme park, equine competition facility, and equine office park all in one. Dogs are allowed to accompany their owners on the park's outdoor grounds as long as they are leashed or confined to an approved kennel. If carried or confined to a wheeled kennel, pets are allowed to go into the gift shop, but they may not go inside restaurants or the Alltech Arena. Dog-friendly outdoor seating is available at the restaurants. Pets are allowed in the museum lobby but not in the museum exhibits, so visitors will need to take turns staying with their pets outside of these areas. Pets are not allowed to be left unattended in vehicles, roam without a leash, or tied-out on the grounds. Visit Website

    Excellent Adventure!

We were told by several people that this place was a "must visit" while in Lexington and they were not wrong! We had a great time! The park is only $20 for adult admission and I believe that's a two day pass. The grounds are absolutely expansive and massive. And all pet friendly. The staff was super friendly and engaging with out puppy. Just make sure you go when you can spend some time there because you're not going to want to leave!

    Fun & educational walk!

Spacious place! We were there on a slow day, but the guy at the gift shop said during the summer they could have 3,000 people a day. It was a really nice walk around the property…with educational signs & barns to walk through. Everybody was friendly. The dogs had a blast!

    Great Experience

It was quite cold when we went, but our pup had a blast. All of the people and horses there were great with our dog, who was quite excited until he actually got up close to a horse and realized how big they were. It was a great time for our dog, but we (the people) enjoyed the talks and experience. I'm looking forward to going again.

    Great Adventure

I will say know your pup before you go but Letty loves horses and isn’t a barker so we had a blast walking the grounds, watching the horse shows and cooling off in the visitor center. You won’t be allowed in the museum but if you take turns.
Letty had a blast and it made up for the 6 hours in the car!

Loved being able to bring my pup for this incredible experience!

I just moved to Lexington for the month (I travel around the country working remotely) and was in need of something fun to do for my birthday, but I don't have a pet sitter yet. I checked out Bring Fido and saw the Horse Park. I'm not into horse racing, but I do love animals and I love walking with with senior pup Harley, so we gave it a go. I'm so glad we did! We spent an hour in the morning just walking the grounds, then in the afternoon we did the stall-side meet and greets where you get to meet the horses. The staff was super friendly to my pup, and she got to be up close and personal with famous horses. This place definitely exceeded my expectations.

    Great fun

They were great about our dog. She is still learning but she loved walking around and looking at the horses, who were great around the dog. The staff were friendly and we got to see all the shows as well. Just make sure you are aware there are certain indoor spots like the museum and gift shop that dogs are not allowed unless they are service animals. But overall a great experience for dogs and people.

    Wonderful experience! 🐎

I learned about KHP from Bring Fido, so THANK YOU! We stayed in the campground for 2 nights & loved visiting the park! I expected restrictions, but I was very pleasantly surprised at how many areas where open to well-behaved pups! 💝

    Great place

I didn't bring my dog bc I didn't know it was dog friendly. While visiting, I saw tons of dogs there. It was a really nice park. I loved being able to pet the horses.

    Excellent!

The whole park except the museum is dog friendly. At the museum, the young ladies at the front dog sat for us while we toured the museum.
