- ACMore than a year agoBeautiful trail & views!
This is a great trail! I will say... if you are not a "hiker," this trail may be a mildly challenging. There are lots of switchbacks and the trail gets narrow in several areas. It's not like you would "drop off the edge" or anything. But, it's a dirt trail and can be a little unstable if you're being pulled by an excited, large dog. Also, the hike includes a lot of elevation changes (going "down" to the gorge and back "up" to the trailhead). So, if you're not ready for it, you may find yourself a little out of breath.
During a majority of the trail-hike there are great views of the running water. When you reach the span (about a 1 1/2 miles in from the parking lot), it is a great place for "selfies" and to rest on the rocks if you need to.
There are a few spots where you'll cross small brooks/creeks. My boxer took those opportunities to lay down in the water and cool off. Speaking of water... there are no fresh water fountains or available drinking water of any sort on this trail; bring plenty of water for you and your animals (children or pets - yes, that was meant as humor).
All in all, this was a great escape and made for a wonderful outing for myself and my dog. Just be prepared... give yourself plenty of time... and you will enjoy this excursion!
