Great indoor space to walk with your pup

Great destination for some indoors walking on a hot day. Friendly staff, and lots to see (several in-store aquariums, taxidermy, and more!).

    Bruce’s Disney world

The wonders of wildlife paid admission sections (the main aquarium and the taxidermy muesum) do not allow pets. The freestanding store does and has several tanks throughout it. We do training sessions at the store close to closing time and I take him walking around the store on his birthday or as a special thing. He loves to watch the fish. The trout pond with a water wheel is his favorite. Most of the pet inventory is for bigger dogs and Bruce is a miniature dachshund. Its a fairly big store so it’s a big walk for his little legs and he finds it very engaging. He loves getting pets and treats from the employees. As soon as I say the word Bass he knows exactly where we’re going. Sometimes he does this thing at the park when we’re leaving where his legs won’t work if we’re heading towards the car. If I ask him if he wants to go to bass pro his legs magically start working again. It truly is his favorite store to go to. If you have a very people orientated dog who is scent motivated it’s a nice activity to do when the store isn’t as crowded. When we go to the aquarium and come back home smelling of bass pro he does spite pee to get back at us. Bruce would probably give this place 10/5 stars… I’m gonna give it a 4. It’s definitely not worth it to bring your dog if you plan on doing either of the attached museums. But if you’re just visiting the store or are looking for a place to socialize your dog, keep them active in bad weather, or take them when it’s dark outside it’s great. the facility itself could be way more dog friendly and its not that expansive if you have a larger sized dog. But it’s my boy’s favorite place to go, so we go. they’re also very forgiving about accidents and don’t seem to mind as long as you alert a team member so they can spray an enzymatic cleaner after. There is a lot of taxidermy, my mom’s dog Dave is terrified of it. Bruce however is just always faked out because he thinks the dead bear by the nascar stuff is a new dog friend and is disappointed each time he gives it a sniff to find out it isn’t.

    It was just okay

While I do appreciate any store that welcomes dogs, this one was just okay. There are a lot of neat little things here and there to see but overall it is not necessarily a super exciting place to visit. We knew the aquarium wasn’t pet friendly, but just a heads up in case you plan to visit, none of the Johnny Morris properties(Aquarium, Big Cedar Lodge, or Top of the Rock) other than the store are pet friendly.
