This dog park is located in a low, almost marshy area. If there has been any precipitation get stays very muddy for days, often with standing puddles.
The folks who use the park are mostly very friendly and considerate. The exceptions are mainly the few who leave large-caliber poops instead of cleaning up after their dogs.
The park gets heavy use, probably due to its proximity to the university.

They have two fenced areas, access to water, and poo bags. The dogs we've run across here are generally friendly, as are the people. I usually have to give my dogs a bath after coming here though since the fenced in areas turn into a giant mud pit for a few days after it rains.

I have brought my dog here a few times and we have had good experiences with the other dogs here. My main issue with this dog park is that it is ALL dirt, and when it rains, it is a mud pit. Other than that, it’s nice that there are two sections for small and big dogs, and it’s nice that it’s close to 64 and lots of the housing developments in Southern Albemarle.

Great park but Andreas for gps parking lot should be 304 old Lynchburg rd charlottesburg va
The above address took us to a neighborhood above the park.
Parking is on other side of park. - JoeMore than a year agopretty park
Nice park, and great that it offers two fenced off-leash areas! Not too crowded, but there were dogs to play with. Glad we found this spot in our travels!

Many thanks to those responsible for returning the park to the dogs. In the mid '80s I used to take my pup to Azalia Park twice daily, where he would romp with 3 companions who's devoted owners would brave conditions that would have mailmen calling in sick. In time, the "fairly regulars" grew to as many as 20 a day. With the erection of fences for the baseball field and to protect against the "dangers" brought on by erosion from the creek, the numbers began to dwindle back toward the "faithful 4". Kudos to those who renovated it such that, on a recent visit to my "old stompin' grounds", I was greeted by about a dozen friendly (albeit unfamiliar) faces (* make that 2 dozen if you include the "moms" and "dads" of the care-free canines). Cherish the memories :-)
- BradenMore than a year agoNice park, but small off leash area
The park itself is nice but off leash area is very small. Our 4 month old pup was attacked there by another dog just for going near the one bench.

One of the best dog parks. Behind the fenced area is a trail to the river where your dog can swim and stay cool in the summer heat. The park is rarely out of poo bags and the grounds are maintained frequently. The best part may be the location, less than 10 minutes from UVA and the downtown mall, and walking distance from the Fry Spring area.
