Linville Falls is a pet-friendly hike in Newland. Flowing from its headwaters high on the steep slopes of Grandfather Mountain, the Linville River flows cascades through two falls on its way to a beautiful gorge. Linville Gorge was America's first officially designated wilderness area. Enjoy the towering hemlocks, dense stands of rhododendron, and native wildflowers on the trails that surround the falls with your leashed pooch.

If you are feeling outdoorsy, bring Fido to the Linville Gorge Wilderness, nicknamed “The Grand Canyon of the East.” Located approximately 60 miles northeast of Asheville in the Pisgah National Forest, this 22-mile loop has over 39 miles of hiking trails to offer adventure seekers. For some of the best views, hike to Linville Falls with your leashed pup from from Linville Falls Visitor Center. Linville Falls is the most popular waterfall in the Blue Ridge Mountains due to its easy accessibility along the Blue Ridge Parkway. Wear hiking boots and bring your camera to photograph the three-tiered waterfall and magnificent views. Trails are open daily from dawn to dusk when weather permits. Fido can rest his weary paws overnight at one of the pet-friendly campsites and cabins nearby at Linville Falls Trailer Lodge & Campground or at Parkview Lodge.
