Hammond Coastal Trail
Hammond Coastal Trail is a pet-friendly stretch of the California Coastal Trail that links Arcata and Clam Beach. Start off with a leashed walk along Mad River Beach, then enjoy off-leash fun at Clam Beach Off-Leash Area from October through February. This trail is rated as easy and welcomes most levels of hiker to enjoy it. Dog owners should clean up any mess that is left behind.
