Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge
Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge is pet-friendly. Offering visitors the chance to see 50 species of mammals, 64 species of reptiles and 240 species of birds, it's a great place to bring wildlife-seeking pups. The American Bison Society moved 15 bison from the Bronx Zoo to the refuge in 1907 and now more than 650 live there. Leashed dogs are welcome on trails within the refuge. Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge is open every day of the week from dawn until dusk.
