We have tried to walk the trail twice this summer and the mosquitoes are so bad I don’t know how we walked out with any of our blood still in our bodies. If your jogging or on a bike…moving swiftly you should be fine but a leisurely stroll is just not possible.

We enjoyed the trail. It is 3 miles to Zoar one way. There are benches to rest every quarter or half mile. This does not take you into Zoar Village, this ends up by Dover Zoar Road (Not far out of the village). Definitely take bug spray, mosquitos were out as there is laying water with the Locks and properties that surround this.

I parked at historic For Laurens in Bolivar. My Black Lab Sydney and I walked about 1.5 miles down the trail. This portion was very scenic and followed the towpath of the old canal. There are several old locks still in place.
We went there on a very mild early fall day. Unfortunately, because this part of the path follows the canal there were also a ton of mosquitos, that's why we turned around so early. Also, the path is also a little narrow in some places.
Overall, it's was a nice section of the trail. Just go when the weather is cool to avoid the mosquitos.
