    Great park gone down hill

I'd taken my dog here for forever until the last year and a half. The stickers are so bad that we just had to stop going. I don’t know many who go to this park anymore for that same reason. You can’t go 3 feet in ANY direction before having to help your dog with the stickers in all paws. We now travel across town to Beal Park Dog Park. It makes me very mad and frustrated that after many people have complained and even taken matters into their own hands the city refuses to resolve the issue. It has been well over a year now with no sign of progress to utilize this park again.

    Okay Park

the park is a great size and made for a nice break on a road trip. however, my dog had stickers all over her after leaving. there were also very large prairie dog holes throughout the park, and my dog stumbled into one as she was running around.

    Awesome Fenced Park

I found this park by accident. It is totally awesome in that there are 3 areas. 1- for large dogs, 1- for small dogs and one is an obstacle course. The large dog is approximately 5 acres with plenty of shelters and seating.

    Great Dog Park

We were passing through on a road trip and found the park using the Bring Fido app. Was not too far out of our way and the dogs were able to burn some energy!

    Ah-maz-ing Park!

One of the BEST dog parks I've ever been to.

Huge fenced lots for small dogs (under 30 pounds) and large dogs. Both have an agility course you can practice with, spigots for water, large bowls/plastic kiddie pools to hold water in, and plenty of benches. There are some shade.

People bathrooms available and a kiddy park within walking distance if you have a big family. Doggy poo bags are available if need be too.

Oh man, I wish I had a park like this back at home.

    A GREAT park

I've only explored the dog park, but I have to say it is one of the larger ones you will encounter when driving across the country. Even the small dog section is vast, allowing dogs to have ample space if they so require it. There are numerous agility pieces on both the small dog and large dog sides. There was a children's play pool left out on the small dog side with a hose for the dogs to cool off. Benches are scattered throughout the dog park but the shade tents above the benches have been removed for unknown reasons. Still, there are plenty of trees to provide some shade. The other review on BringFido.com stated that it is mostly dirt, but the ground is actually 90% green, albeit from weeds. Overall, a stellar park to let the dog stretch his or her legs freely and enjoy the fresh air and canine company.

    Hogan Dog Park

We moved here to Midland, after spending time in San Diego, Arizona, Washington State, and Oregon. My dogs have been to dog parks ranging from Dog Beach in San Diego, to parks with lush green grass, and then there is Hogan Dog Park.

I wasn't that impressed when we first got here, almost 4 years ago. But for HDP, MY opinion isn't really the one that matters, now is it?!

Sandy and River and Charger IMMEDIATELY fell in love! They didn't care that the park was mostly dirt, and that there was only minimal grass. They cared that they had a lot of space to RUN!!

There are dog fountains to water your dog, but we take water from home. Midland water is notoriously NASTY stuff. So, like for humans, don't let your dog drink water from the tap! RO water is found around town for 25 cents a gallon!! It's worth it for 2 legged and 4 legged creatures!

There are benches in I think 4 places in the park, but it might be 5 or even 6... Each time I count in my mind the number changes... There is dog statue that doubles as a human perch if you tire while walking around the perimeter...it is a very large park. 2 places where benches are have multiple benches with sun shelter.

There is another side of the dog park, designated "small dogs", but people seldom use that side. Our little dog impersonator, Phillip, weighs in at only 5 pounds, but he wouldn't be caught dead on the little dog side!

Parking for the dog park is shared with other parts of Hogan park, so it can be tight or unavailable on those rare really nice days in Midland.

Poop bags as well as the shovel and rake system are usually available...again, BRING YOUR OWN!! Relying on someone else to provide you bags, or worse yet to pick up YOUR dog's poop is not being a responsible dog owner!

And last but not least, people and dogs at HDP are friendly and outgoing...unless YOU don't pick up after your dog...They know owners sometimes miss the fact that dog 1 pooped while you were picking up after dog 2...a simple hey your dog pooped over there should do to keep everyone happy and friendly!
