Great trail for the Family & Dogs

We took our 6 month Lab here for her first hiking trip. Great easy trail to get a dog used to new footings like board walks, bridges and walking across logs.

    Fun for the whole family!

We took our dog Barnaby and our toddler on this trail. There are plenty of little access points to the creek that my dog loved, and the trail was flat enough that it didnt kill is when we had to carry the kiddo. The flora on display was gorgeous. Highly recommended for Fido!

    Nice trail!

Relatively flat trail (for western NC) with lots of creek crossings, a cool board walk area over a large bog. iPhone said we did 5.6 miles. I'm sure the dogs did closer to 10 miles (in/out of creeks, in/out of the woods, up/down the trail). Not really any majestic mountain views, but nice wooded trail with a few meadows and resting areas. Good hike for a beginner and/or kids (trail may be a little long for young children). We will go back again!

    Trail Review

The trail is actually between 5 and 7 miles. 5 if you do just the loop, it extends to 7 miles if you include the out-n-back to S. Mills River Road

Southern half of loop is full of roots, but fairly level.
Northern half of loop is packed dirt/sand, slight ascent towards parking lot.
Streams everywhere for your furry friend to cool off in.

Great hike for dogs, not easy to find many hikes this flat in western NC.
