Dog Friendly Beaches Near Shell Beach, CA, US

Pismo State Beach in Oceano, CA, is a dog-friendly area that welcomes Fido on a leash. Dogs are allowed on the beach and park trails but must be kept on a leash no longer than six feet at all times. Dogs are not permitted at the Pismo Dune Preserve or at Oso Flaco Lake.

Avila Beach is the smallest of the beaches in Avila & Port San Luis Harbor and it's called Dog Beach by the locals. Dogs are allowed off-leash and under voice-command control on Avila Beach before 10am and after 5pm daily.

Pismo Beach Pier, located in Pismo Beach, CA, is pet friendly. Although dogs are not permitted on the pier, leashed pups are welcome to join you for a leashed stroll along the sand. The 60-acre regional beach, pier and promenade includes restrooms, sand showers, volleyball courts, children's play equipment, benches, drinking fountains and many ocean recreation opportunities are available. Pismo Creek can be observed with a variety of bird life by walking down Addie Street where the creek merges into the ocean.
