Dog Friendly Hiking Trails Near ACV Airport

Hiller Park is a dog-friendly park in the community of McKinleyville, CA. This 36-acre park offers 1.5 miles of trails to explore with Fido, and a designated off-leash area anywhere west of the split rail fence. Facilities include a children's playground, picnic tables, a barbecue area, and restrooms. The park is open from 8am to 8pm daily, and the gates are locked promptly at 8.15pm.

The Hammond Trail is one of 1600 rail-trails supported by Rails-to-Trails Conservancy, a nonprofit organization that is working to create a nationwide network of trails from former rail lines and connecting corridors. Hammond Coastal Trail is a pet-friendly stretch of the California Coastal Trail that links Arcata and Clam Beach. Start off with a leashed walk along Mad River Beach, then enjoy off-leash fun at Clam Beach Off-Leash Area from October through February. This trail is rated as easy and welcomes most levels of hiker to enjoy it. Dog owners should clean up any mess that is left behind.
