Dog Friendly Hiking Trails Near Big Bear Marina, CA, US

Alpine Pedal Path is a dog-friendly 3.2-mile (one-way) asphalt trail in Big Bear Lake, CA. This path is a great place for morning jogs, bike rides, and leisurely walks with Fido! It boasts fresh air and beautiful scenery along the way. The path has access points that lead to the lake and various beaches.

Cougar Crest Trailhead in Big Bear Lake, CA, offers moderate hiking. This dog-friendly trail is roughly 5 miles out and back. At the end, this trail meets up with the PCT at the base of Bertha Peak. You can follow this connection up a little over one mile and reach the peak as well. The views are spectacular and Fido will definitely be excited to go on this incredible journey.

Pine Knot Trail to Grand View Point is a dog-friendly, moderately easy, 6.9-mile hike in Big Bear Lake, CA. This trail is located within San Bernardino National Forest. The trail will take about 3 hours to complete with Fido. For a shorter hike you can take Mill Creek Road, which turns into Forest Service Road 2N10/Skyline Drive, to a point just below the summit where the trail passes over the road.

The trail is best used from March until September.

Castle Rock Trail is an easy, dog-friendly, 1.6 mile hike in Angelus Oaks, CA. This trail is located within the San Bernardino National Forest and will take about one hour to complete with Fido. This short hike is a nice escape into beautiful scenery. Take in the lake views on a trail that is speckled with granite boulders.

Grays Peak Trail is a moderately easy, 6.4-mile, out-and-back hike in Fawnskin, CA. This dog-friendly trail is located within the San Bernardino National Forest and will take about 3.5 hours to complete with Fido. This trail is on the north side of the lake and will actually lead you to the backside of the mountain where water views disappear. However, losing the view of the water is worth the peace, quiet, and open vistas that take its place. This area is subject to closure due to habitat protection. Since this trailhead is within the bald eagle habitat, it's closed during the nesting season from winter to spring, sometimes extending into summer.

For an easy family hike, try the dog-friendly Woodland Trail in Big Bear, CA. This 1.5-mile loop is an interpretive trail that offers a self-guided tour of this dry-woodland area. The trail starts off HWY 38 about .2 miles west of Stanfield Cutoff and is well marked and has plenty of parking at the trailhead. Leashed dogs are allowed. An Adventure Pass or Interagency Pass is required for use of the amenities at the trailhead parking area.
