Dog Friendly Hiking Trails in New Hampshire

Kancamagus Highway from Lincoln to Conway runs through the White Mountain National Forest in Campton, NH. Dogs on leashes and under voice command are welcome on the pet-friendly hiking trails. Dogs are also allowed at Franconia State Park under control, but not in campgrounds. There is a fee for a day pass. Do not leave dogs in the car unattended.

Chesterfield Gorge Natural Area is a dog-friendly recreational spot in West Chesterfield, NH. This lovely woodland area is great for hikers to explore, especially during the fall when the leaves turn an array of colors. Fido will enjoy exploring the footpaths along the gorge that lead to scenic views of the area. The park is always open for dogs and their owners unless otherwise posted.

Bear Notch Ski Touring Center in Bartlett, NH, is a full-service XC ski and snowshoe center with more than 60km of meticulously groomed trails - all of which are dog friendly! Bring Fido on an unforgettable winter adventure as you ski, snowshoe or hike through the scenic fields, forests, riverside loops and mountains. Afterward, you can warm up with a bowl of homemade soup at one of their trailside picnic tables. Guided tours, ski school, rentals and a demonstration center are also available.

Diana's Baths is a pet-friendly trail in Bartlett, NH. Bring your leashed pooch on this hike that leads to a series of pools and cascades on Lucy Brook. Gonic Trails at Mount Isinglas Recreational Area features dog-friendly hiking trails in Rochester, NH. Leashed pups are welcome on three separate forested trails near the Isinglass. Locke’s Local Loop and Watson’s Way are both loop trails measuring close to 1.5 miles in length, while Luanne’s Lane is 3.5 miles each way. The trails are open year-round for fall leaf-peeping or winter snowshoeing.

Ramblin' Vewe Farm is a pet-friendly recreation area with well-marked trails and lots of shade in Gilford, NH. Parking for the trailhead can be found off of Boyd Hill Road. Fido is welcome to explore the multi-use trails with you as long as he is leashed or under voice control at all times and is cleaned up after. The Nashua Heritage Rail-Trail is one of 1600 rail-trails supported by Rails-to-Trails Conservancy, a nonprofit organization that is working to create a nationwide network of trails from former rail lines and connecting corridors.
