This dog friendly event will be held from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM on September 20, 2014 at Town Center Park (Bandshell) in Orlando, FL. Dog registration is $15 pre-sale and $25 day of race, with no admission fee for spectators, and benefits HispanaEduca.

Description
The Doggie Derby at Avalon Park, will celebrate man’s best friend while helping HispanaEduca, which is an education-oriented, Hispanic-serving nonprofit organization registered in the State of Florida. In addition to the dog races, the event will feature vendor booths with giveaways (including dog treats!), plus food and beverages for the humans.
How the race works: Dogs (of similar size) compete in a single-elimination, 25-yard sprint race. Spectators find it hilarious to watch the techniques dog owners use to get their pooch across the finish line – some dogs run for treats, and others, just for the love of running. Some run the wrong way, or not at all! Champions are declared and trophies and prizes awarded in four weight divisions. The overall canine champion receives a grand prize (and howling rights for a year).
Everyone can enjoy this annual festival! To register a dog to race, participants should sign up at doggiederby.com or at one of our Pre-Derby Yappy Hours.
