Description

NOTE: This event is in Battle Ground, INDIANA (Submission field would not allow us to indicate INDIANA) Rescues, Shelters, Vets, Vet Techs, Trainers, Behaviorist, etc and their families... are all invited! Animal Welfare Appreciation day is Wolf Park’s way of rewarding all those people who help make the world a better place for animals. Take a break, get some fresh air, and come to Wolf Park to meet our amazing animals, and quiz our staff about animal issues. For over 35 years Wolf Park has been educating the public about this misunderstood predator, while also doing research on canid behavior. They have been presenting seminars to professionals and other interested animal educators, sharing the wealth of knowledge they have gained working with wolves, coyotes and foxes all these years. This day is an excellent opportunity for the animal welfare community to visit the Park and gain valuable knowledge that will benefit the animals in their care. Schedule: 1:00 pm Park Opens to public 1:15 pm Presentation in front of main wolf enclosure—Dispelling myths and rumors about wolves and our domestic dogs. 2:00 pm Wolf and Bison Demonstration—see a couple of our wolves interact with our herd of 20 bison and learn more about predatory behavior. NOTE: The first 15 animal welfare advocates in a leadership position in their organization who register at the Visitor Center will get to see this program from a truck inside the field, up close to the action! 3:00 pm Presentation in front of main wolf enclosure—Feeding and pack dynamics. See our wolves get fed and learn more about behavior. 3:15pm Guided Group Tour—Take a guided walk around the facility to see all the residents of Wolf Park. These tours will be special content designed for the animal welfare community. 3:45 pm Second Guided Group Tour. See above. Special Features: * Visitors involved in animal welfare will be eligible for a drawing for prizes including Wolf Park memberships, free passes, and best of all, one lucky individual will get a certificate for a spot in our Wolf Intensive Weekend three day seminar in 2010. (This is a $325.00 value!) * We will have several Wolf x Dog hybrid specialists on hand to answer your questions about this elusive animal. Andrew Miller will be on hand to talk, and to sign copies of his new book (with Jessica Addams) on this complex subject matter. * Monty Sloan will be signing his book “Canine Behavior: A Photo Illustrated Handbook”. Monty is the photographer of this valuable book on dog behavior, written by Barbara Handelman, M.Ed, CDBC. For the safety of our animals and your pets, pets are not permitted on the grounds.
