Reviews
- EricaJul. 18, 2022Room not so great
The main lobby is great along with the bar, the restaurant, and the main pool, but the rooms were sketchy, smelly and depressing. They also left fresh earplugs by the side of the bed for a reason. Noise pollution from planes and helicopters were too much.
- BodhiApr. 28, 2022VERY DOG FRIENDLY
The resort is older, but clean. It could use some updating and new furniture, but we didn’t go to Myrtle Beach to stay in the room. We have stayed here twice and enjoyed it, we are planning another trip in October. The hotel is very accommodating to dogs, we were able to take ours everywhere; restaurant is out door seating only. But you can’t complain because of the unobstructed view of the ocean. The staff here is awesome and they all seem to love dogs. Most if the dog owners we saw were responsible with their friends and picked up the droppings. Access to the beach is easy. Remember dogs have limited beach access May -September due to City/County regulation. Other than the common sense restrictions: leash, control your dog, pick up the droppings; dogs can access the beach anytime October - April. Overall a great place to stay with your dogs. (Minus one bone for the needed updates)
- TimJan. 4, 2022Great location that is dog friendly
The hotel was clean, located close to everything and friendly at check-in.
- JenniferDec. 7, 2021Great location
We had a blast even though the weather wasn’t cooperative! Only downer is that one heated pool worked and it was at the opposite side of the hotel from us!
- NatalieOct. 10, 2021Wonderful place
The staff was great. They love the fur babies. I will definitely be back!
- DebraAug. 11, 2021Okay, but …
My friend and I spent 6 nights at DoubleTree with our two dogs in July. We almost booked at Residence Inn for the same price but didn’t because theirs was a no-cancellation policy. However a friend stayed at the Residence Inn & their rooms were much nicer, more updated with a large kitchenette area (including a full sized stainless refrigerator and a dishwasher). At DoubleTree our room was crowded and dated, the minuscule “kitchenette“ consisted of a dorm size fridge (not even large enough to hold a half gallon of milk for cereal) and a small microwave. We ended up ordering most meals from the hotel restaurant (which were delicious) but we would have preferred to not have to do that so often.
Additionally there was no room service delivery of food, pick up only. Another annoyance was that it was two days before a shower bench we’d requested was installed in our bathroom. Finally I asked staff if there was a way to get a disabled person down to the beach and nothing was offered, then the day before we left I saw a beach wheelchair and learned that the hotel rented it out. If they only have one they need more for their large complex. The noise of planes and helicopters is ever-present at the DoubleTree because of its proximity to the airport. One of the highlights of our stay was a visit to the art museum across the street. If I returned to Myrtle Beach with dogs I would most likely stay at the Residence Inn rather than the DoubleTree.
- JaniceJul. 25, 2021Great location with a disappointing “resort” for the price
The resort appears run down and in need a great deal of attention from the grounds. Needs new mattress in room, towels at the pool, and items on the menus available.
- ThierryMay. 25, 2021Great place
Great place to stay with the pooches. All the employees were more than accommodating.
- RebekahApr. 16, 2021Great place to take your pup
Plenty of areas to walk your dog. Everyone was kind and polite. She had such a good time on the beach, she didn't want to leave.
- StephanieNov. 8, 2020Ocean front, dog friendly
At check in I was given a dog toy, a bandana, and two doggie bag rolls. They have a fenced in dog area if you want to let them off leash. The beach though! My dogs LOVED walking the ocean. I'd absolutely return to this hotel!
- KevinSep. 7, 2020Great experience
We enjoyed our stay and appreciate such a great booking experience. We will definitely use bringfido.com for future trips.
- LynnetteJun. 10, 2020All Pets welcome
We enjoyed a relaxing weekend with our GSD. He is very well behaved but can be intimidating. Double tree was lovely for a quick get away and so special to be able to watch the waves from our room. Lovely weekend!
- AllanFeb. 23, 2020No sleep first night.
Nice hotel but our first night we kept hearing a beep every 30 seconds. We believe it was coming from the room Nextdoor. We called the front desk at about 11:30pm and supposedly they sent the security guard to check it out. He said he couldn’t hear anything from outside the room and left it at that. My wife or I didn’t get much of any sleep.
When I went to front desk in the morning and asked for a refund he said the only thing he could do was credit the resort fee for that night which was $25. Which we didn’t know anything about until check in. They charge a “resort fee” of $25. a night. Not happy at all. - LynnFeb. 19, 2020Resort with minimal service
No green spaces. Urban style garage parking. Have to navigate concrete and pools to get to the beach. Convention center. Wide spread and wide open next to the main road.
- AlbertDec. 28, 2019Very happy here
Stayed in a suite with full fridge and microwave. Spacious for us. Balcony an added bonus. Beach and other areas for dog exercise (our stay was in December—beach access for dogs may vary in high season) were abundant. While hotel is close to the airport there are only a few flights daily. Helicopter rides next door were more of an issue, but not enough to deter us from returning. Suite was sparsely furnished: one bed, table and two chairs, and a sofa bed. Room for at least two if not three easy chairs. That is our main complaint.
- ErinMar. 13, 2019Great all Around!!
Brought my ESA (Golden Retriever) here for her 6th Birthday. Spoke with the desk and they waived the pet fee since I had medical documentation saying I can’t travel without her. Great location. Right on the beach. Nice rooms. It’s a ten minute drive from the hubbub of Myrtle. Close to a dog park!

Rooms had a side view not front. Bathroom sink was in the bedroom. Hotel is under airplane take off route and very loud. Not one restaurant was dog friendly, they expect you to leave your dog in the room.
- ChrisMore than a year agoFantastic Resort
Our family and dog had an amazing time at Springmaid. The room had a great view of the ocean, was clean, and had a nice balcony to sit outside and relax. The staff was very friendly and they are very accommodating to pets. You have beach access from the hotel and showers by the pool to clean off after venturing out to the beach. They have free miniature golf for the kids and even have a small dog park to let the dogs release some energy as well. We will definitely be back
