Nice Little Walk
Tarkiln Bayou Preserve State ParkPleasant place to stretch legs. Raised wooden boardwalk leading to an overlook by the water with a bit of a breeze. Would not go out of the way to come here but we ate nearby and was a quick 6 minute drive. Recommend going early in the morning. Extremely hot and a bit stifling in the sun. Shade intermittent.
Location, Location, Location
Sunset GrilleBeautiful view. Food is fine. A bit tight for the dog (he sat under our table) but staff did their best to accommodate us and Atlas.
Very Dog Friendly Patio and Staff
Hofbrauhaus RestaurantIf you sit by the river, larger dogs can watch the people floating downstream, which is entertainment (for us too). Water and hot dogs provided for Atlas. He was not a huge fan of the music as it was a tad loud, but very good musicians with a solid repertoire. For humans, the food was solidly prepared and as described. However, do not expect it to be as it would if you were in Bavaria. The one down side was that we waited an inordinate amount of time to get our food - over 75 minutes. The staff were lovely and did their best with obvious short staffing. Two separate sets of potential diners sat at the table next to us and left after a bit. Despite the significant delays we enjoyed the meal and the setting.
Good Solid No Frills Alabama BBQ
BBQ 65Food is good - interesting and wide variety of side dishes. Our dog enjoyed the food also. They have 2 wooden picnic tables outside and the concrete patio is covered so stayed cool. If just rating food would give it a 4 (for what it is). Not a lot of space for the dog so rating a 3. There is also a nice, clean grassy area nearby for dog needs.
Might have been good but inclement weather interfered
Twisted LaurelThe patio has sun sails but no waterproof cover. Not the restaurant’s fault to be sure, but we and 3 other parties with dogs tried to wait out the storm huddling under the one sort of solid covering, which was anything but solid. We ended up getting the meal to go. Never received the “dog menu” others note when originally seated. Food was ok. Brussel sprouts were a solid winner. Meatball sliders a miss with limited flavor. Caveman “wings” are actually drumsticks. Would say “dog accepting” rather than “dog friendly”. There is not a lot of space between tables.
Expensive for what it is
Staybridge Suites Montgomery - Downtown an IHG HotelHotel accepts dogs but would not go so far as to say it is “dog friendly.” The $75 pet fee is ridiculous for a single night stay, particularly when we bring a bed for our dog to sleep/sit on. No real grassy areas but for a 2-3 block walk where there is a nice dog park that has playground activities for dogs. The weight limit on dogs is also a bit perplexing. Would not stay again.
Super Stay for All
Kimpton Hotel Arras an IHG HotelWe echo others in noting the welcoming and friendly staff. I felt like I was in a dog hotel, with almost every guest sporting a dog or 2. Our Shepherd loved it but we were once met by a rather aggressive beast while trying to exit the elevator. Parks are a block away so very convenient for a bit of exercise and taking care of needs. The rooms are modern and clean. First hotel stay for our pup and he loved looking out the window on the activity below. Water and ice on every floor. Overall a great stay and our number one choice going forward for stays with our dog.
