Great Dog Park
Spring Canyon Dog ParkWe have been here several times over the past few months. Currently part of it is closed because they are fixing the filter system to the pond (YAY when this will be done!). For the most part, all of the dogs are relatively friendly. We do have a young dog (just turned 1, Mallinois). She is very social, does not know boundaries, but is learning. We understand animals are unpredictable, dogs are animals, therefore they are unpredictable. We are ok with dogs correcting her and establishing boundaries as she can get in their face and tries to herd them. However, what I find interesting (as opposed to dog parks in Arizona), they say "Spayed/Neutered Animals recommended" and "Dogs in heat prohibited". We were responsible and spayed our girl at 9 months old. So, "recommended" .... but then "in heat" is prohibited. What happens when someone brings an intact male that, regardless if the female is spayed, tries to mount them. Definitely NOT ok with this as our dog has NEVER snarled/growled at another dog until this male tried to mount her and the other female in the park at this time.
Because the pond is being worked on, the fountain for water is currently turned off, so be sure to bring your pup water on hot days.
Just below Horsetooth Reservoir. Beautiful location with lots of walking paths/trails nearby. Well maintained.
